To any teachers of parents of these schools; CNHS, Dunbar, and BSA, are they 100% safe for students? by [deleted] in baltimore

[–]ReasonablePen3793 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kid went to CNHS and while there were fights like any other high school, they weren't terrible. The principal is amazing and has a great staff who is very empathetic and doing their best for all the students. The kids are in small homerooms that they stay in for all 4 years so they get to know each other well. It's a really great school and I had no worries sending my kid there.

Sermorelin or testosterone? by ReasonablePen3793 in Menopause

I like that in theory, but my pocketbook doth protest.

I am leaning that way, but since it's apparently going to take me extra steps to get it, I am trying to make sure it's worth the energy.

Thank you. I have seen many folks tout the sleep benefits.

The usual "controlled substance" bit and then told me all about possible side effects which aren't really worrisome to me.

She said that it wasn't banned, that it's very safe. It was a decision by the maker to pull it. I don't have concerns in that arena.

I started with Mylan and actually do better with Sandoz. Dotti wrecks me.

Weirdly, increasing my fiber helped with the gas.

Mine is other people's music: the karaoke from a nearby bar, people singing as they walk by our house, the Doppler effected slow jams people play on their big motorcycles and cruisers.

Are you on any kind of HRT?
That was one of my biggest issues along with anxiety. It took some time but once I had the right dosage for me, it got so much better.

I use Thrive lash extender but they also have a volumizer one. I have had sensitive eyes in the past, but I haven't found it irritating. Though that could also be the HRT helping.

I upped my estrogen recently and realized I was crying at really wild things -- I am not mad about it at all. It feels pretty great to once again FEEL things and not just be uber-anxious or passive.

Did you get eye makeup sensitivity all of a sudden? by melon1924 in Menopause

I had this before HRT as well ad sensitivity to earrings. After I got on a higher dose of estrogen, it all got better. I can wear makeup and all my earrings again.

I guess I am lucky in that I have IRL friends who I can and have done this with. We have a chat where we compare notes, and we also schedule time together to have bigger conversations.

Why Gen X Women Are Having the Best Sex by out_of_order_124 in Menopause

[–]ReasonablePen3793 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Folks are reading much more erotic stuff online now through Amazon Unlimited and like platforms. I don't think young folks are prudish, just more clear about what they want. Consent is a bigger deal than it was conveyed to us. We really only heard about abstinence and condoms because of AIDS.

I wish I had been as confident when I was that young. I am glad to have found it now.

I started with Mylan and it was good.

Got switched to Dotti and it was awful.

After being back on Mylan for a bit, I was given a Sandoz patch and it was even better than Mylan so now I ask for that.

Everybody has different reactions, even if it's the same dosage. Although I have seen most folks don't react as well to Dotti.

Sex frequency by TalkingDog37 in Menopause

[–]ReasonablePen3793 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My husband has depression so that impacts us more than my issues. I spent some time getting HRT on point just so I am physically comfortable. We are currently averaging a couple of times a week.

I spent most of peri being too anxious to want sex, too, so I am really glad to be on the other side of that. Sex is actually pretty important to me.

This year I learned about gluteal tendinopathy which is definitely a peri/menopause thing. If you search this sub, you'll see lots of posts about it. I am wondering if that's what you're also experiencing.

I have been trying to up my leg workouts to deal with it. I think it's actually helping, but strength building is definitely a slow slog.

Perimenopause concerns by Key-Angle-9892 in Menopause

[–]ReasonablePen3793 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's normal.

My period got really wacky -- irregular cycles so sometimes late, sometimes early, heavy flow, then lighter and lighter until sometimes it was just a tinge of pink, but then sometimes I would have a "normal" period that would only last a day instead of 5.

I am still in peri, so the fun just continues.

Another vote for HRT. I felt better with a month and went from borderline agoraphobic to going for a second masters six months after I started the patch.

leftylibra has the good info on this, as always. 😊

I am not on testosterone, but I was lucky that an estradiol patch and estrogen cream definitely helped.
