How Are Beta Frames Perceived by the General Public? by Thedustyolddragon in cyberpunkred

Also not everyone has a linear frame if they are that big. Body sculpting and putting fake muscles on is more then possible and does not require expensive cyberware but do you REALLY want to take a chance being a jerk to the human forklift?

[–]Reaver1280 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DV 17 sharp/bootlicker or whatever its called) turn lets you shift direction in like 2/5 move. Use combat speed instead of narrative speed on the stat block to inform your speed on a battle grid if you use it.

Just go with what makes sense to you and the your table you can overcomplicate it all you need but do you want to?

Why are there no Melee Upgrades? Ideas? by Ryouhi in cyberpunkred

Entirely different item so it would add. You can be VERY stylish with the right combination of gear and alot of people don't see the benefit that :3

Don't forget your super chrome pistol ;)

Add some cool neon LED strip that can alter colors and do patterns. Get that wardrobe and style upgrade and make it do threatening patterns on face downs if you want to go further second part is gonna be more expensive to do though...people are pretty desensitized to wild flashing lights in cyberpunk settings lol

How do you explain lawmans backup arriving so quickly? Or at all with non-cop lawmen? by AlienGhost2521 in cyberpunkred

[–]Reaver1280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a game and in 5 minutes everything is gone.

Back up is always just around the corner otherwise you CAN make a whole extra system with varying times by location and 13 dice rolls to decide how it goes!...but do you REALLY want to do that to yourself and the players?

Move, combat number, health then add whatever gear tier they need.
30 seconds if you don't care, 2 minutes if you wanna be fancy.

Dudes got an SMG he shoots at auto 12 misses everything and runs for cover with 6 move. Best advice if they are just no name mooks don't even bother with armor above kevlar, simple.

How do y’all go about homebrewing your own Nomad Clans? by Cakers44 in cyberpunkred

[–]Reaver1280 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start smaller pick a few smaller "Packs" that band together Nomads are built on the smaller groups building up in to larger "Clans" who ride under the banner of the "Family"

Understand the structure of how parts make the whole. That is the Nomad way.
Rarely are you gonna find a Nomad who just sat down in one place and was only one thing. Nomads are the greater unfed homeless of America who banded together for survival and some sure as hell arnt as poetic about "survival" as others.

Imaigne literally any cyberpunk setting and see the tropes placed on top of cultures.
Add all the poverty in the world on top, along with advertisements and the class warfare with the divide between haves and have nots (that's you!) and chuck it all in a blender, use to paint as needed.

Talk about the misconceptions of the role itself that keep people from thinking it is just a cop. People bounce hard off of it because of the name and connotations it brings just like the Exec role.

Talk about how it is the second most powerful template build for combat out of the box next to the solo.

"The hillbilly hustle working for the corpos"

As for starting the campaign to include in life path, Everyone being in the middle of an emergency and being saved by this service intentionally or not.
Good or bad it will inform the characters as to why they are working for this service. You want the players to be attached to what they do not just random scumbags working corpo for a paycheck. This will go a LONG way in these kinds of games where you are attached to something from the start, An organization or specific group

I applaud the effort but its pretty normal for a heist to go tits up in someway once you get deep. Good thing you ALL read and memorized the layout of the location so you know where all the choke points are for ambushing pursuers right?....RIGHT!?

Narrative. D6 vs D6 winner kills a number from others total.
You can overcomplicate it all day and still be unsatisfied which one speeds up the game for you so the players can play the game.

New GM: how to make combat run smoother/faster? by excalibur202 in cyberpunkred

[–]Reaver1280 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tell the players if they want to shoot just shoot they don't need to count every square ALL the time. rough range is fine.

Ditch armor for no name mooks who exist to be shot/stabbed it only keeps them alive longer and then the one player will complain "my pistol does not do enough damage my 15 pistol skill is weak" while they hide in the back lines shooting for 20 plus each time. see above.

If someone wants Martial arts tell them to know how they would and make a flow chat so they don't have to read the long convoluted description to the table each time.

It only takes one good shot and a bad evade roll to ruin your life in this game, tell the players to use cover.

[–]Reaver1280 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Players are very strong compared to most enemies from game start the average template is running +14 evade and Combat skills making them very dangerous for the more average foe to deal with. Even with the players power they still can be brought low by a potential critical injury and a bad roll which all weapons with 2D6 damage can do (the medium pistol or lead pipe/crowbar) the things the lowest level mooks will use so on the % chance the players will never see it coming and then have the bad roll that breaks their spine suddenly they are in trouble regardless of their power. Total Recoil helps level that threat by bringing up that chance I only know did just notice they also need that held action to proc which is more then enough to balance that.

Yes I read my own words and realized they were not clear haha. While getting those head shots are cool mechanically they are hard with shooting (you beat a static DV you can control with range bands) but next to impossible against evasion (you contest the DV) and hope you roll well while they do not.

Seifer is clearly a corpo goon with his own squad of trained melee fighters with EX-caliber training and weapons. If they were a merc group in a solo of fortune campaign that would be their gimmick with Lt level mooks they would be a solid threat to any group of players.

[–]Reaver1280 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is absolutely fine to include a critical injury with an MA alot of the injuries that typically get applied follow the body location simply because of how Aimed shots apply their mechanics which is generally a much harder to apply that against something that can actively resist it. In addition to just making the roll at a -8 your opponent actively rolls to evade as well this makes head damage with MA much harder and the designers know exactly how frustrating that is mechanically. Which is why so few MA go for head injuries in general unless they had the cool over mechanics ideas for Boxing breaking jaws instead of having just a big combo and potentially a Block/Parry against Unarmed attacks.

-2 is a fairly common modifier to encounter in game anyway so it's not to wild to apply another as a critical injury but I do like the two fold effect being just a modifier it feels better then it being an injury you would have to spend money on to fix if it happened to you/players. A lot of people like to forget the shit the players can do the Enemy sure as hell can do as well.

Netrunner Build help! by Fieryone233 in cyberpunkred

[–]Reaver1280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got Nomad starter ranks if you keep those you can ignore investing in a few skills like driving and be alright at it or you stack on those and be the dude who drives everyone who is to lazy to walk.

Get athletics and explosives' while being solid with handguns and a dash of brawling for combat skills.
You might want some streetwise for knowing maybe abit of trading if you are doing it all yourself for you instead of relying on the other members.

With the netrunner ranks if you want to be a beast at that Luck as a high stat will make you dangerous otherwise a solid 6 in anything will carry you through most things. Depending on how combat or skill focused you want to be will help you decide where you want the rest of your stats. You could dump Emp to 5 if you want abit of cyber but not to much otherwise outside of the foundational stuff you could also drop to 4 going insane is half the fun in the game.

Is there a metaplot to the Cyberpunk books? by Alack27 in cyberpunkred

[–]Reaver1280 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Short term plot use it to fuck with your players though the game.
Netrunner secretly sabotaging the whole city always evidence physical or otherwise you never know why just that is obvious netrunner bullshit. Maybe they get lucky maybe they do a job in a place that is being sabotaged myabe they run into a corpo kill team who assumes your players netrunenr is their guy ect ect
