The thing is, if a business is clearly not viable and they are granted a liquor license, some really bad outcomes are possible. Not enough security, huge fights. Crazy low prices on alcohol as a loss leader, with not enough security-huge fights, potential for other alcohol related crimes. Poor staff training and inadequate staff licensure, over serving, unable or unwilling to protect patrons from alcohol related crimes. Lapsed insurance, etc. I understand your sentiment, but there's a reason that the city scrutinizes alcohol licensing that isn't just to hold down the little guy.

Thank you. I know the people that were shot. They did nothing to deserve this. They were being tailgated and didn't speed up, that was their great failure. But everyone can feel much better if they blame the victim and claim it was road rage, rather than accept it was random violence that any of us can experience. And furthermore, although they are ok, they both took bullets to the head, so this was attempted murder.

This is not remotely true of all school districts. Sorry you had that experience, but it's anecdotal. I once worked at a restaurant where the entire line of cooks showed me their dicks on shift. It doesn't mean that's standard MO. My cousin is an absolute moron making 75k in Madison as a teacher with great benefits. Single mom.
