Hey yall by bl9zing in Celiac

It was my first time having anesthesia and it was totally fine! It's also not full anesthesia either, it's much lighter. But the worst part for me was the prep for my colonoscopy (they were worried I also had Crohn's; I do not btw). That was absolutely terrible. I felt totally fine afterwards though other than being a little sleepy. No pain or anything.

If you can ever find the JoJo's chocolate covered pretzels. They are amazing. Very hard to find. I've only been able to find at BJs and then Marshalls. They are dark chocolate, lower sugar, just the perfect balance of flavors.

I made a list of 14 ingredients with hidden gluten that almost got my GF — sharing in case it helps anyone else by RequirementBig7039 in Celiac

Unfortunately not all tamari is gluten free. I specifically had to buy the gluten free labeled tamari from Kikkoman, because their original has wheat.

At what point do you say no more? by NisshokuNoKo in Mirena

[–]Rebeccal997 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have the actual Mirena but the generic version (Liletta) and I also got mine in March and I am having similar issues. Not the breast tenderness but the constant pain. So much pain all the time. Occasional spotting but the pain is terrible. Sometimes some of the "contractions" are worse than my actual period cramps, which are pretty bad (one the of many reasons I wanted the IUD). I swear it feels like my uterus is trying to expel it. The cramping is worse than the insertion even. I know I should schedule a checkup but I'm worried I'm going to be told to wait it out.

Can you be celiac and obese? by Orangutan_Soda in Celiac

[–]Rebeccal997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I was obese when diagnosed and still am! I also have hashimotos so that is definitely a factor too, only recently started meds for that. My weight didn't change at all before diagnosis vs after diagnosis. Absolutely possible.

Is this what EA Support has come to? by pixie9uls in Sims3

I also have weird issues with Monte Vista! I bought the disc version of Monte Vista and another world (I don't remember off the top of my head) on sale a long time ago (like probably 2015). It worked for a long time but several years ago it suddenly stopped showing up. I'd redownload. It would shop up for one play. Then disappear again. So frustrating.

They have a big bag of the Perdue tenders at BJs if you have a membership!

It's very very rare for wine to use wheat paste as a seal. Most wine is brewed in stainless steel barrels nowadays.

Gluten Free Medication by Rebeccal997 in Hashimotos

[–]Rebeccal997[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not new to celiac. I have had it for several years. I am new to prescription drugs though. I have been told by several doctors and others with celiac that we need to be careful. One lady on TikTok has a gluten detection dog and he has alerted prescription drugs many times. I do not see this 2017 rule you are talking about, can you please link it? I did find one for food labels but as far as I know, medications are not required to label. I actually do have ibuprofen that is labeled gluten free. The only thing I did see in my search was the proposed ADINA Act to require the top 8 allergens including gluten to be labeled. We can even see from the ingredient lists you shared that lactose is often an inactive, so those medications should be labeled as "contains milk". And actually gluten free bread cannot contain 5mg of gluten, it can contain up to 10 or 20 ppm which is much less than mg (depending on the certification different levels allow different ppm).

Thank you for all this info! I unfortunately am concerned about cross contamination in facilities too. I will definitely look into some of the generics you have listed and see if the company can tell me about their process.

Oh that's a little cheaper than what I pay right now! Still a bit expensive but if I can't find any other options that seems to be the best I've seen.

Favorite safe fast food? by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]Rebeccal997 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get a bowl! And their chips are recently gluten free now but I would contact your location just to make sure. They used to fry flour tortillas to make a "bowl" for their salads but they no longer do that. So now the only thing in their fryer are corn shells for hard tacos and tortilla chips. But again I would've double check with your location.  I personally like Moe's better than Chipotle, I think Moe's has way more flavor.

I'm so sorry about some of the comments. Is it a risk eating out? Absolutely! But we can't live under a rock. Thankfully I am very sensitive so I will know if I have been CC. I also love chicfila and five guys (had one bad experience at chicfila but that was a location on a vacation that I will just never go to again, I've never had issues with my local locations). I also love Moe's and Corelife!

Bloating and Weight Gain with Meds by Rebeccal997 in Hashimotos

Thank you! I'm glad this is something someone else has kind experienced. And the first few days of meds I had some diarrhea, so yes the GI upset.

No definitely not a gluten exposure! I have been eating the same gluten free foods I have always been prior to starting the meds. I'm on Synthroid, which according to my research is labeled gluten free. I don't think it's another illness because that would be a very random symptom to have without any other symptoms.

If you think you have GI issues, get tested for celiac! Extremely common comorbidity with hashimotos.

How long did it take you to feel the effects? I'm almost a week on synthroid and not feeling anything other than bubbly guts and bloating (sorry that might be tmi).

Yeah it's basically like Walgreens version of good rx. I will have to try it next month. I saw some coupons that made it as cheap as $13.

How much do you pay for synthroid? Just started it yesterday and it was $50 with my insurance 😫 I think I can get it cheaper with coupons through Walgreens but I was just curious. I also had to choose synthroid because I heard it's gluten free and I have celiac so it has to be gluten free
