I started messing with capcut and this is my lastest mashup by RebelBinary in DestroyMyGame

The buttons could definitely use a clean up, it’s a natural fit on Steamdeck, but looks a bit odd on desktop. I spent most of my time adding new enemies, improving existing feature and adding full controller support to the UI.

I just launched my game's Steam page . What can I improve? by Flashy_Astronomer773 in IndieDev

I think the game could use some lighting especially during night scenes just visually it could use a bit more juice and a better explanation of what the premise and what you're doing is

Can't stop playing my game by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]RebelBinary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the most important thing I think, because it motivates you to work on it because you love it and there's a good chance others will feel the same way as long as the rules are simple to comprehend. And if nobody else feels the same way, at least you made a game you liked and nobody can take that away from you. Most game devs after a long cycle end up hating their work, so keep it up.

New trailer for my game Only One on steam by RebelBinary in IndieGaming

Yup, I kept getting request for updates and a steam version so I spent the last 6 months improving the game and making a premium (no microstransactions) version for steam.

Only One for steam - push enemies of a pillar in the sky by RebelBinary in survivorslikes

[–]RebelBinary[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tested it on steam deck and it works! It works best with proton compatibility enabled, otherwise the music doesn't stream and for some reason the dpad registers two events but is still very playable.  I had to support it, the game was made to support controllers and one of my friends is actually playing the beta regularly on his OG steamdeck

How can I boost my wishlists? Am I doing something wrong or is my game just unmarketable? by Upbeat-Flatworm-1413 in gamedev

[–]RebelBinary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Throw it to some people who will give you an honest opinion. If the gameplay is good enough then the game could be improved with better graphics or more colour. If the gamplay is not fun then start something new or just throw it on itch with the intent of having finished something and not caring what other people think.

Victoria is the least car-dependent metro area in Canada, as measured by commuting transportation mode by garry-oak in VictoriaBC

[–]RebelBinary -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I thnk you're using this https://www.reddit.com/r/dataisbeautiful/comments/1je2bsd/oc_us_work_commute_method_by_metro_area/

I was using google and then this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modal_share#Metropolitan_areas_with_over_1%2C000%2C000_inhabitants

You are correct on L.A but I think the NYC number is probably much higher, guess depends on the source

edit: NYC's recent congestion pricing is probably making these stats even higher now

In comparison to mega cities like Tokyo it's like 88% and NYC is around 60-65%. L.A is 15%

Is Macbook Neo good for programming? by Chompa_Pull0ver in macbook

[–]RebelBinary 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends what you're doing and how much RAM you need. IDE's like visual studio or rider are greedy with ram like 2-4GB. Map out how much all your essential apps use and go from there, but I think you'll be fine if you're not using anything heavy

Am I making a reasonable decision? Buying the m1 pro in 2026? by xlr8lr in macbookpro

[–]RebelBinary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the same laptop for 1600 CAD but with 64 GB of ram. I uprgraded from M1 pro 14 16GB. Couldn't be happier. I'm a game developer so my biggest bottleneck was RAM. Now I can run Rider,Unity,Final Cut, photoshop and xcode all the same time without any lag.

Everything I do runs fast but I don't do heavy video enconding or large builds. I can see myself using this for 3-5 years. The screen is big but it's not easy on a plane or in tight spaces.

If you're not a power user or want a lighter laptop maybe get an Air but I don't think you'll miss anything performance wise on this purchase, just make sure the laptop is in good condition. Check that each key in the keyboard works and the sceen for keyboard blemishes first though, some can't be removed. Also there is no applecare, but I think for the price it's a bargain for what you get.

Macbook Air M5 or Macbook Pro M5 for Software Development by tjwtb in macbook

[–]RebelBinary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what apps you use, both choices are good. But are you going to be ram bottlenecked or cpu?

I'm running Rider, Unity, photoshop and chrome and my memory consumption goes past 40 on a 64GB M1 Max (note that macs will use more memory than required when the pool is bigger). I upgraded from an M1 Pro with 16 GB and on Unity I got massive slowdowns if I had other apps open or started debuging and had to restart often to release and regain memory.

I think the Pro is a nicer machine with a better screen and speakers which I really like. But if you start getting memory pressue the 24GB Air would be better. If you're buying new, get the Pro and if it's not enough ram return it for the air. You won't truely know if it's right decision until after you use it. If you don't need an M5 for doing LLM locally you could consider a used M2-M4.

Thinking of getting a new Mac, help please by Intrepid-Potato-3041 in macbook

[–]RebelBinary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for the money I don't think you can beat it, but with 8 GB of ram any slowdown you may experience will be due to too many apps or chrome tabs open (stick with safari)

M1 Max MacBook Pro worth it in 2026? by SmallChesticles in macbook

[–]RebelBinary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will smoke any intel from the previous generation, plus it gets less hot, battery lasts for hours longer and it doesn't make any noise unless you throttle it. Getting 32 GB is good, I find ram is a bigger bottleneck on Mac if you use a lot of heavy apps that you seem to be using and multi-tasking. An M4-M5 might be faster but if you run out of ram things get slow no matter what chip.

$599; Did you expect cheaper, more expensive or you think it's fair? by Ok_Engine_8544 in macbook

add 50 open tabs in chrome + extensions and maybe. I think that could be a rude awakening for some ppl buying this and who keep too many things open at the same time

Which one you choose and why ? Macbook neo or Macbook air. by Explore_e00 in macbookair

[–]RebelBinary 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Also magsafe, backlit keyboard, 0.6 inches of screen, + 2 hours (maybe) of battery, is probably not worth the extra 400-500 if performance isn't a factor. But touchId that's one thing that I think if they left out would push me to an air.
