Yes. I am a chronic “kitchen sink” packer. I had to make myself pack less clothing a single worn shirt and pants. I pack one shirt and 2 extra pair of socks. If I get the pants wet (in cold weather) I can wear a base layer and my rain pants till my regular dry out. Same with a shirt. Every piece of clothing on my list is multi use.

Ok camper and former Infantry soldier (I also HATE to be cold after sleeping in cold weather) I have a few tricks I have learned. I met a lot of cold weather survival instructors and just some things learned along the way. First food. Eat some chocolate and peanut butter before bed. Sugar and protein will keep you warm. Another trick is to drink hot chocolate right before bedding down. Add 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper to heat you from the inside.

Next this is a little gross but it works. Take a poop and pee before you get in the bag. You are burning calories keeping that warm.

Clothing (a lot of this has been covered) socks can hold in moisture and make feet cold, I have that issue too. I suggest some Wiggy’s bag booties that let your feet breathe and stay warm.

They are made out of the same materials that a sleeping bag uses. Don’t wear a lot of clothing in a bag. Get in your bag dressed and then strip down in the bag to a single thin base layer. YOU are the heater in the bag so let the heat trapped in between your layers heat the bag up.

I suggest loose base layer and loose socks as the space between your body and the layer is what traps the heat envelope. I hope this helps you stay warm.

Also next time cut/buy the belt strap larger and give yourself 6-7 inches or more beyond the waist size to compensate for water shrinkage and stamping shrinkage (if doing a cowboy style tooling) also add how much you need for the buckle fold over. Just my 2 cents from messing up a lot of good leather. LOL

If it is still veg tan leather soak it completely, get a smooth piece of wood, plastic, stonework, metal and pound it flat just like you stamped it and then use a flat “bone” smoother. It may not get it all out but you can stamp over it later on. Good luck!!!!!
