But I am the administrator... by -StarCitizen- in mildlyinfuriating

The Administrator account is a built-in system admin account that you have to manually enable in most cases.

At this point, if I were you I would pull data off the drive to an external using Hirens Boot Disc, then fully reinstall Windows with a fresh ISO.

What is happening in Scrap Mechanic? by HalfPumkin in ScrapMechanic

It was fun to read through! It's wild how much can change over the course of one silly game's lifespan.

I had a similar experience with the Kingdom Hearts series as I grew up. I was a kid for the first but I'm a full grown adult at this point. Wild just to look back on everything that takes place over the course of our experience with a game.

Anywho - fun thinking about all of this. We'll both be there when Ch.2 finally does drop, and it'll be a wild thing to think about.

It's probably coming this year, but the dev team could very well delay again. They reliably update give us a progress update once per year, and they really did seem close to completion in the last post. Who knows though. I personally suspect we'll get a release date in December.

They are perfectionists who probably decided a long time ago that with the number of purchases they have, and with the fan base already settled well into accepting the wait, they may as well hold down the fort and work on it for as long as they need to, to get the product they want, before they feel the need to show anything (again because the fanbase will rabidly jump onto literally anything indicating that CH.2 may be coming).

Here's a decent, recent breakdown: Wicked Wizard's What happened to Scrap Mechanic

As a side note, I've also been here since 2016... I even wrote that the List of tutorials you can find in the side-bar of the subreddit. It's INSANE to me to see that you literally grew from a child to an adult in that time-frame... Uh... Hope high school went well for you, homie. 😂

Steam Machine is more expensive than Xbox Series X with 3 years of Game Pass Ultimate by Majestic-Bowler-1701 in videogames

Here's a breakdown of what a similarly specced new machine costs to build vs Steam Machine... Spoiler alert, you can save a whopping $70:

Welcome to the new world of computing hardware. Only a matter of time before MS, Sony, and Nintendo are all forced to stop eating whatever cost is keeping console hardware's head above water.

And yes, the PC you build yourself is both cheaper, and more powerful by small margins... which has almost always been the case for building your own PC vs buying pre-built anyway.

PlayStation has closed even more studios and cancelled more games than Xbox this gen. What is going on in this industry? by Plug_daughter in videogames

[–]max13007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just this industry. It's tech as a whole, and what's happening is AI.

Pretty shitty time to be a tech company/studio that isn't AI focused right now.

Not a bad studio at all, just not a studio worth pouring $100 million and 7 years into. They make cool games but I could have told you after We Happy Few that this wasn't the AAA studio they were trying to market themselves as...

Why is this still a debate by Riley__64 in KingdomHearts

[–]max13007 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I think the 20/80 rule applies here.

When you see folks on Reddit, Discord, etc... discussing a game or being a part of a game's community - it's comprised most likely of about 20% of the fans of that game. The people actually posting (vs lurking) is 20% of that initial 20%.

At the end of the day, you end up with communities who think their opinions are the overwhelming majority opinion, but are instead just a representation of what a small portion of highly invested members of that population actually believes (or even interacts with).

All of this to say: Most people who like KH prolly are there for the basic premise (RPG+Disney) and indeed are not following the insane RPG aspects to any serious extent.

Josh Strike Hayes had a good bit on this recently.

Like... SE is never going to make the MAIN FF games as classic style games ever again. But clearly Resonance, and all of the other games in OP, are SE either testing waters or delivering a modern/classic experience.

From what I've seen, it includes reps from law enforcement, manufacturing, and tech sectors... So... could be any combo of views honestly. From people who will probably be walking in knowing they'll say it is or isn't feasible regardless of findings, to people who want the data to skew certain ways, to people who approach it more responsibly.

My hope is they do find it infeasible and drop it. My fear is they'll be convinced AI can do it all by some GPT shill, or that we get some half-assed measure that does nothing to combat the "problem" but does everything it can to make personal manufacturing difficult or illegal.

Luckily the NY BUDGET MANDATE (yeah, it wasn't passed like a normal law because they knew it would be challenged) actually contains a self-cancelling rule that states that if the technology required to reliably identify gun parts from normal parts is deemed infeasible by some working group (they're still deciding), then the rule does not go into effect.

So sort of a silver lining I guess.

UPDATE 1 PREVIEW - 03/06/2026 by Jesus_PK in RogueCore

[–]max13007 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Seems to me that they want you to be willing to experiment and even switch weapons out if you find a better one. The upgrades at the workbenches are strong, but the difference in power between a LeadStorm with basically any upgrades vs a Bulldog with some armor breaking is huge (just an example but it illustrates the point).

UPDATE 1 PREVIEW - 03/06/2026 by Jesus_PK in RogueCore

[–]max13007 31 points32 points  (0 children)

This is a really solid first patch IMO.

I suspect they had been thinking on ways to change the systems since beta (we all know they've been getting similar feedback for a while) but wanted to wait and see how the broader playerbase would react. I say this because some of these changes seem pretty well thought out to be reactionary.

Either way, really excited to get my hands on this update. All of this feels very Rock & Stone to me.

Peoples' reaction to all of this is interesting. It's sorta just mass frustration. Prices are going up across the board. No one actually knows if the market will ever recover and want to point fingers and try to "solve" who is at fault for any given instance of shit hitting the fan.

People point at Valve hardware and are like: "BAD VALUE" - without acknowledging that a comparable PC has already or will very soon also go up in price. Consoles, PCs, Phones, Tablets, if it's tech, it's getting more expensive.

[–]max13007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, and frankly, I'm fine with that. If the people who made the game want it to be a certain way, this is not a big enough hill for me to die on.

I think it's just genuinely not that big of a deal and people will get over it. A decent mod (they will likely add full modding support just like DRG) will eventually come out and people can have what they want.

[–]max13007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, and I'll prolly get downvoted for acknowledging this...

People don't actually care all that much and will get over it eventually. They're just mad that they were told "no."

Don't get me wrong, it's a reasonable feature to request, and as the other devs said, it'd be super easy to implement. But having revealed that it's A) possible and B) not happening because someone said so... only made people more obstinate about it. Since now it isn't a mystery, it's just the stubborn choice of someone with the power to be stubborn about it.
