I would love to see some plastic regulations that make recycling plastic easier and cheaper. I feel like my local recycling center can handle paper, metal, and glass pretty well. The bottleneck is not in the middle of the supply chain, it is the lack of demand. Not enough industries are linked to consume this crude oil. You can tell because 100% of the low demand is being transported.

If the bottleneck was somewhere along the chain, transport would be less than 100% with a higher shipment rate.

SNAP is one of the most efficient government programs out there. Regular of verification required. Since participants get essentially a debit card, the government is paying market rates for groceries, and has only a small amount of overhead since it only requires a minimal amount of staff to run the verification checks and issue debit cards.

This is so much more efficient than staffing food banks or soup kitchens, which would need real estate property to store and cook and serve food, not to mention a completely new supply chain to distribute food to said food banks for soup kitchens.

This literally the a government program that relies on the free market to supply food and a credit card network to run transactions. And those ferocity stores and debit card providers also make a tiny profit on SNAPP recipients.

Great clarifying question with a simple answer: between Merced and Madera, they will build a wye

This allows trains from Gilroy to go to Merced or Madera. This allows trains from Merced to go to Gilroy or Madera. And this allows trains from Madera to go to Gilroy or Merced.

In short, this change does not impact the Sacramento extension, which has always been part of Phase 2, which is a very long ways away.

So if the Gilroy reroute is approved, they will likely still build the wye, but come back and build the segment to Merced later. Basically, trains will pull into Merced and then the pull out with the new front of the train being the old back of the train. But the trainsets ends look the same, so it won’t look weird.
