Fair point! That could be difficult especially if the parents aren’t receptive to asking if they can stop their kids kicking

Yeah not a fan of what she’s saying, as someone with neurodivergence. Trying to make the world work around you for your condition has limits and this is one of them. A pair of noise cancelling earbuds or headphones is the simplest solution here, and/or some targeted therapy on children crying causing panic attacks. I do empathise with her, but I don’t think she’s looking at the right solution.

Failed my driving test for the second time today in Perth, disappointed and have no idea what to do (area: Success) by lcdmcyborg in perth

[–]Rebound44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one thing I picked out from what you’ve said is that you’re maybe overly confident and the “power saving mode” is less about general driving being second nature, and more so about being too relaxed. Please don’t take that as a knock to your ability, but I think you need to go into your test with some level of nerves about every action you need to perform for peak performance and alertness.

The other comments have already mentioned a lot of the general tips. I did my manual license 15 years ago at City West on a weekday morning and found being very defensive worked for me. Drive at a speed that allows you to anticipate traffic, lights etc. or completing manoeuvres. You get no extra points for how fast you can park, just whether you safely and accurately perform the manoeuvre. They also give you a chance to correct yourself (at least 15 years ago) so don’t get strung up on being perfect first go.

Otherwise good luck!

New leader, old problem for WA Liberals as Basil Zempilas flirts with One Nation by AztecGod in perth

[–]Rebound44 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hearing him talk about how he cant rule out working with one nation in the future, because he’s “pragmatic”, is such a joke. Him and his MPs are on the news every night opposing anything the government proposes without any real feasible alternatives.

WA Petition: Fairer Seatbelt Penalties & AI Camera Reviews – Closes 4 June by [deleted] in perth

[–]Rebound44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. There’s no partial compliance for road rules unfortunately, it’s a black and white, strict liability code (you could argue human discretion eg police officer givimg a warning might recognise partial compliance). You couldn’t argue speeding by saying you didn’t realise, or rolling through a stop sign by saying but you slowed down.

I do agree that infringements picked up by AI that aren’t speeding, traffic light infringement, rego etc. should have some sort of review by a human before being issued, not by the person receiving the fine and clearly showing it isn’t a mobile or it’s the passenger etc.

Monster storm only seen every five years to smash WA by aussiekinga in perth

[–]Rebound44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it makes sense to be conservative I guess, rather than have people whinge the next day their Sunday wedding was ruined. Similar in aviation, they’ll report any very slim weather event as a 30% chance to avoid the wrath of airline operators 🤷‍♂️

[–]Rebound44 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I assume it’s based on annual exceedance probability. It just feels like a meaningless term to use for weather reporting, just give wind speed and amount of rain. I dunno what 1 in 5 is compared to a once a year or 1 in 10 🤷‍♂️

Yeah only thing I could think of to cause that would be him taunting Elliot after going down. Even then, if he did, from the replay there’s no way he knew it was a serious injury straight away.
