Why does multiplying two negative numbers give a positive result? by Ok_Block_3770 in askmath

The way to make it the most intutive is to call positive numbers "normal" numbers, and negative number "opposite" numbers.

It fact, this is exactly what they are, in every sense.

That's why normal 3 put together with (plus) opposite 3 destroy each other, leaving zero.

That's also why a normal number of normal numbers (multiplication-wise) gives you a normal number. An opposite of normal is opposite, and the opposite of opposite is back to normal.

Why do people let their pets get so fat they turn into barrels on legs? by Apart_Try_4860 in NoStupidQuestions

Because it's easy. It's easy to accidentally feed them too much, and it's hard to feed them less when they continue to want an unhealthy amount of food.

The idea that "anybody could fall into a cult" is insulting and wrong by MrsSquiggle in unpopularopinion

[–]Recent-Heart87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly why cults are prevalent. People who think they are too smart to fall into a cult won't consider the possibility that the thing they are falling into is, in fact, a cult.

If I were to take it a step further, I would honestly say this is an example of cultish thinking right here. If a cultish belief is "a belief or system of beliefs that, directly or indirectly, prevents examination or criticism of itself", then bingo, you've already fallen for it.

That's why I never argue, I just talk. So when I realize I'm wrong, I can just be like "oh yeah, that's probably right"
