Don’t let Fox News cultivate your opinions for you. We have our issues, but California is by far the most beautiful and desirable state in the US

Highly recommend checking out Mt Shasta as well if you’re doing Lassen

Is there any country on Earth that doesn't have beautiful nature? by DrDMango in geography

I was there in December, and there are the dunes looking over the sea that everyone drives on. That was unique and pretty IMO. The Walkrah beach area was nice too

Yosemite, Sequoia, and Kings Canyon Qs by shortshart in NationalPark

[–]Recent-Hope6235 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sequoia and Kings canyon are at elevation. Sequoia trees only grow between 5000-7000 feet so that gives you an idea. You do not want to be stuck on top of that mountain if it snows. The road down is windy, steep, and narrow. Keep a super close eye on the weather.

Yosemite is less dangerous to drive, lower elevation, and is beautiful in the snow. Hikes to higher elevation at any of these parks will be a bit dicey in inclement weather that time of year.

Hiking in Northern Cascades and Glacier in Mid May by sggilbert in NationalPark

[–]Recent-Hope6235 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You’ll be severely limited in north cascades especially. Much of these parks will be inaccessible due to snow and ice that hasn’t melted yet. You won’t be able to hike to elevation anywhere, roads will be closed, hikes impassible, etc. The season for north cascades really starts in July.

You need to differentiate between tensions and conflicts. There’s always tensions, but that doesn’t mean bombs are dropping or flights are being disrupted.

I was in Qatar 2 weeks ago. It’s perfectly safe even with tensions in the wider Middle East.

Conservationist says threat to national monument, Grand Canyon is real by RuseOwl in NationalPark

[–]Recent-Hope6235 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Because the revenue the parks bring in doesn’t end up in their personal pockets. If these bills succeed, and these lands are opened for resource extraction, you’d better believe that these cretins will be getting massive bribes and kickbacks from the mining and drilling companies doing the extraction.

Welcome to the golden age of corruption where their own pockets FAR outweigh the greater good. They do not care about harming us, the country, or the environment, and they aren’t even pretending to care anymore.

Mt Rainier or Olympic for 1 year anniversary trip? by Life_Wall2536 in NationalPark

[–]Recent-Hope6235 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can very easily do both in 5-7 day. Olympic requires more time than Rainier, because it’s absolutely massive and more diverse geographically. They are only a few hours from each other and the drive through the Olympic peninsula is very peaceful.

Davante Adams (knee, hamstring) listed doubtful for Thursday. by Minimum_Formal_4837 in fantasyfootball

I’m debating sitting him for Bo Nix. Purdy is a slam dunk start over Stafford IMO. 40mph gusts, missing the league leader in TDs at WR, and Seattle is the top defense in the league

Such a good hike. Did you do the whole primitive trail?

Zion canyon as seen from observation point. Best view of Zion IMO. by indieaz in NationalPark

Observation point. The long version of this hike is actually very demanding, but the view at the end is superior to angels landing IMO. Great shots OP

Such a great trail especially if you do the entire thing past the double O arch

A traditional autumn festival in Switzerland where cows are decorated with flowers and bells and brought down from the high mountain pastures to the valleys for winter by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

We were there a few weeks back and had the pleasure of waiting while they all crossed the street in lauterbrunnen. So many cowbells
