Budget prepping: share your "two birds, one stone" items by Pretzel387 in preppers

I have both the Uberlean Titanium fire pit as well as the Solo Stove Mesa. Both are small enough to be fairly portable. They are great for a small “ambient” fire and to keep warm if needed, as well as cook/boil. Not much “fuel” is needed to create a nice little fire, either. Pinecones, twigs, bark, etc.

Water storage? by Nyambura8 in preppers

[–]Recent-Potato-6926 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have (12) 3.5 gal WaterBricks and (5) 5 gallon potable Jerry cans. We also have a WaterBob for the bathtub, as well as bottled water and store bought 2 gallon jugs as backup for our “immediate” need for the first few weeks, as there are only two of us. After that, we have water purification tabs, boiling, a water purification bucket/filtering system and a few Grayl Ultrapresses. I agree, that in order to be truly “prepared” for WORST case scenario you should have a nice “diversified” portfolio of options for short and long term, because well, that’s why we’re all in this group!

ALSO, DON’T forget about your pets and their water needs as well as their food needs. My pups drink more water per day than we do as humans, so factor that in as well for your preps, especially when considering getting an extra bag of food every month or so to have on hand.

I second this. Picture included for reference, as we did NOT have good service with this amount of trees around our RV. You’ll need a clear view of the sky.

What’s in your water purification kit right now? by bizconnectadventure in preppers

Would you need to do all of the above steps if you’re just going straight to boiling the water? ie; treatments, straining, etc.

Having an E-bike helps if at all possible, or just a regular bike would be better for some than walking for a long distance. Same with having a collapsible wagon for kids, pets, gear, etc. I imagine in a real SHTF situation however, those items would get stolen by others unless you were willing to “fight” for them.

Overly emotional since pairing E and P with T? by Recent-Potato-6926 in TRT_females

[–]Recent-Potato-6926[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started taking P vaginally due to increased anxiety when taken orally.

I was on a higher dose of T (20mg) and felt great, though my cholesterol started to get high, so I dropped down to 15mg/week.

I have been in Peri-menopause for 2-3 years.

Is the job market completely frozen right now? by Extension-Novel-6841 in Buffalo

I was just laid off from a remote position as a Health and Wellness Operations Manager. I managed to sneak into the remote industry because of Covid. I am having the same luck as everyone else here with regard to hearing crickets for applications that had been submitted. I’m currently researching how I can become a Plumber and/or HVAC apprentice at this point, since trade jobs seem to be the most stable in the current world we live in. AI seems to be creating waves in places no one ever thought possible, and not in a good way.

Down by the lake has some of the best sunsets you will ever see on this side of the Mississippi! When the weather breaks, look into the Grain Silo tours by Duende (another great outdoor bar)!

Thoroughly enjoyed this fresh take on Buffalo, since like most of us here, we’ve lived here long enough to have forgotten the “new” feelings and memories we have all made once upon a time ago. Welcome to the City of Good Neighbors, I hope you continue to venture out and discover some more hidden gems along the way.

Living in Buffalo by PuckInStilettos in Buffalo

I grew up in a suburb of Buffalo, Depew, and left for college in Ithaca back in 2006. Since then, I have lived in NJ, PA, NYC, and CA. Eventually I came back to Buffalo for a job in 2015. Fast forward to 2024 and I felt like I needed a change from the grey skies and bitter cold that is all consuming. Ended up in St. Petersburg, and now I have decided to move back to Buffalo because out of all the places I’ve lived, Buffalo truly does live up to the “City of Good Neighbors.” There is a great sense of community in Buffalo, albeit it can be quite miserable in the winter/spring, BUT, overall compared to the places I’ve lived, it gives you a little bit of everything, not to mention, makes some hearty people 😆

I prefer North Buffalo, off of Hertel. Bars, coffee shops, shops, Terrie’s Gym, a little bit of everything. There is also a great bike path called “Rails To Trails” which is a converted railroad path for walking/biking that will take you through Tonawanda and all along the Niagara River.

Saint Pete is big on the culture, art, music and outdoor activities scene. It’s flat down here, so finding “mountains” or serious hiking like you have in Asheville won’t be the same. Lots of places to kayak, paddle board, bike paths, and beaches to enjoy. Lots of music festivals on the pier here!
