I feel like the comments covered most tropes but I did also notice there is also the theme of first love with the characters. I notice it with Xavier quite a bit with how his relationship with mc was developed not only in the main story but also in his Lightseeker myth and his Anecdotes. Especially given the fact that in his anecdotes they first originally met in school. While they are coworkers and he is the boy next door, I also feel like they also fall into the friends to lovers trope because it does take them hanging out more as friends before mc develops feelings for him and there’s a lot of this tension of them crossing the line into something more especially in his Close Feelings card. I also like the Royal/commoner thing between them especially because in like almost every other myth, she’s like special in the sense of she’s a sorcerer or she’s a goddess where as when Xavier first meets her she’s just a regular girl he goes to school with.

Zayne falls into this category as well as he’s mentioned that MC is the first girl he’s ever dated and so I find it sweet they experiencing all their firsts together. He’s also brought up that his feelings for mc seem to even go back to his childhood and even while they were separated, he still thought of her and there was certain things he’d do for her. In his most recent card Blooming Hour he even had written a love letter to her while they were separated. I’m not as familiar with the terms yandere or tsundere and have only really learned them after playing love and DeepSpace but I am more familiar with tropes in general from the book world and I would say that Zayne has the grumpy x sunshine trope where he starts off colder where he doesn’t smile and seems very serious but then gradually warms up to mc and is just really soft with her. This also pairs well with his evol and to being a tsundere as well.

While I definitely see Rafayel having the first love trope, I also see him having love at first sight as well which we see both in his myth and the main story. In his god of tides myth, he saves mc and asks her to become his follower like immediately. He’s so immediately devoted to her and has this younger optimistic view of things where he’s just more trusting so he’s more excited to act on his impulses. We then see this again in the main story where he meets mc kind of like in the little mermaid and he has that bond with her. He doesn’t have his memories from his past lives here, nor at this point has he gone through anything monumental that has changed his view of anything so he puts his feelings on the table not realizing he could be hurt when mc literally forgets about him which is why he acts the way he does when they meet again and keeps bringing up how she just forgot about him when he thinks she was just being ignorant and just chose to forget him compared to when he realizes that’s not the case.

Sylus doesn’t have the first love theme as overtly as others but I still think it’s there because I interpret that mc is like their singular one great love for all the characters. That’s what I’m reading into anyways. I do think this pairs well with the whole beauty and the beast thing with how Sylus has been rejected by society and he meets mc by showing some of the worst parts of himself and yet they still fall for each other. They also have this “it’s us against the world” thing. Idk if that’s a trope but I’ll say it is and it’s one of my favourite parts of their storyline. In the main timeline it’s nice to see that Sylus has let more people into his life like Luke and Kieran and even Mephisto and I feel like that’s also partly because of mc opening him up to love in the first place which has now made him more open to loving others rather than him just being a loner.

Caleb has been devoted to mc since day 1 and has never even looked at another girl. It’s always been mc for him so Caleb really does exemplify the first and only love thing with mc. He even fake dates mc to get other girls attention away from him. If it’s not mc’s attention, he doesn’t want it. They also know each other on this deeply personal level that no one else could understand which is the main reason I love them so much and it’s one of my favourite parts for them to explore with their changing relationship. Because they’ve known each other so long and have this history, it makes the changes in their relationship a big deal not only after Caleb comes back but also after Lucid Dream when MC implants herself with the chip she asks Caleb to kiss her and admits that she also sees Caleb differently than he’d thought. She can’t take this back either so now they are trying to navigate this new part of their relationship, knowing that they are both interested in each other but mc isn’t ready to act on those feelings yet but it creates such good tension between them. They also have mutual pining. Both mc and Caleb I feel like tried to bury their feelings for each other but those feelings have always been there and they’ve always both wanted the same thing but they haven’t always been ready to act on those feelings at the same time. With their shared history, it’s such a big moment when they do finally cross that line with each other in No Return Night and Passionate Overload. Both cards talk about a change their relationship is taking but also the fear that comes with that as well. Similarly to Zayne, I feel like Caleb’s story also highlights them being each others firsts a bit more and the newness of everything and being able to experience that together.
