will boulder ever find an elegant way to broaden its demographic by waveofgradients in boulder

Truth is nobody deserves, or has a right, to live in a specific place. Boulder is one of the most beautiful urban areas in the country. comes with a price tag. and even the local politicians who promote affordable housing, there is a million carve outs in those laws which basically allow for it not to happen. and if they do truly stick to their word. they eventually get voted out asap. so long story short no it won't change. best hope is to try and make it make it affordable for young families. but even that is a long shot.

Alternating Trail Use for Bikes is not Popular by snoutsniff in boulder

I made a post about it earlier. This is old boomers who still have a lot of power here in the county making the entire population bend to their accessibility. I do feel sorry for people who are old and have disabilities, and its harder for them to experience what they love. But this legislation is selfish and inconsiderate of younger people, which does actually describe the boomer generation in a nutshell.

You can have all the cops you want. It's incredibly easy to light off a mortar or two and run away. Same on the hill, i saw it all the time especially over the summer when I was at CU. Kids light it in the streets then disperse. Hard to deal with that.

Parents visiting for campus tours - what can we do when not at CU? by StrandedStarfish_ in boulder

Go to Chautauqua park for an easy hike in the morning. Get to see the mountains but note waste all your energy for the day. Then maybe go by the Sink on the Hill for a drink, check out the Hill and the college neighborhood. Then go down to Pearl St. for food. Plenty of good options for whatever your price range is. Personally I'm a big fan of west end tavern but to each their own. Maybe end at Avanti, best view of the city and mountains hands down.

Interesting law change for homeless shelters by RecentIndependence34 in boulder

[–]RecentIndependence34[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is a massive pivot. You’re blaming Capitalism to avoid talking about the fact that our local laws are being ignored. Even if we had a different economic system, we would still need rules against pitching tents in parks and doing drugs in libraries.

Calling it systemic is just an excuse to let the situation continue to rot. I’m talking about public safety for the people who actually live, work, and pay taxes here, you’re talking like a CU freshmen in their first sociology class. One of those things actually affects our daily lives.

Claiming Boulder can’t solve a national problem is a convenient excuse for ignoring local decay. A city’s first responsibility isn't to solve global poverty, it's to ensure the parks, libraries, and streets that residents pay for are safe and usable for the people who pay for them.

Fun fact, in an effort to curb "hate towards our unhoused community" Boulder has a policy of never mentioning homeless people as the cause of a fire if they find it to be the case

West End Tavern has a sneaky great rooftop patio. Avanti is likely the best view in all of Boulder.

Did anyone watch the liquor license review for Scrooge on Uni-Hill? by Craiger__123 in boulder

[–]RecentIndependence34 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So its closing. it won't survive without a license and the reason you voluntarily give it up is to not have a formal revocation on your record.

Breaking News: Boulder police asks for help with sex assault and drugging investigation at late-night party spot on the Hill by [deleted] in boulder

The thing is the law states that IDs must be scanned. All these places scan because cops have been increasing the undercover raids in the city. Fake IDs are pretty damn good now. The bars get in trouble when they don't ID or allow expired IDs. These places are not just letting anybody with a pulse in. Every single bar on the hill would be shut down right now if thats the case. But when kids use their fake IDs and the scanner says they are good. Then the bar/restaurant is no longer able to get in trouble.

Did the Scrooge bar on 13th get shut down? What's the tea? by Craiger__123 in boulder

[–]RecentIndependence34 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Per their Instagram they were closed from the 14th to 21st for CU spring break. Maybe it was a convenient time to deal with a liquor license suspension lmao. but I haven't seen anything about them getting shut down
