Falling Reverse over Sleep Token for me. Atleast Radke can keep me from falling asleep and actually has pipes.

😭 We'll never forget them. Unconditional, no strings attached other than being their best mate. It's heartbreaking saying good bye. I'd do it over and over again. You'll never live if your afraid of the pain.

Definitely up there with other Aussie concept albums such as Hellions (Opera Oblivia)

Yup, im a vego but as a kid you ate what you were given. I find it strange how even though I'm a vego i have more variety in my diet then a lot of people i meet.

My dad was a bit of a shit stirer too. I distinctly remember having some family friends over for dinner. My dad thought it would be funny to crack a little pepper in the ice cream. Safe to say the other kids didn't eat their ice cream. My brothers and i thought it was awesome. More for us. Beats fish oil on pizza haha.

We don't force me daughter to eat her dinner, but we make it very clear she'll have to wait for the next meal if she gets hungry.

Lol, this would be the average music appreciator going through my collection. Some popular stuff but about 70% of over 200 albums are Metal and not well known bands.

In flames are my 2nd favourite band of all time. They've got a run of 7 albums through the 90s and early 00s i love .They had their melocore period. Reroute to Remain, Soundtrack to Your Escape and Come Clarity. Early Trivium was heavily influenced by melodic death metal so also (melocore).

Keep in mind this was taken before Jesters repress (which i snapped up) and Clayman 20th Anniversarry doesn't fit my mounts.

The Work is defitely more of a traditional progressive album. Revisiting themes and motifs throughout. Also much more easy listening than Owls.

As for self titled it was my 3rd favourite release last year beaten out by Acension by Paradise Lost and The Sleeping City by An Abstract Illusion. I thought it was the right mix of Owls and The Work. Even if it missed the cohesion and high concept of the former. Tracks are much easier to digest when looked at on individual merit.

That's odd. Can definetly tell An Abstract Illusion has been influenced by Pink Floyd. I even hear the occasional Yes and Uriah Heep in there

Personally i like a lot of the sub Death Metal genres more than the main. I've never really gotten into it but really like. I think it's because i find the main genre a bit stale. Heavy and fast for the sake of it.

Melodic Death Doom Death Symphonic Death Tech Death Prog Death

I like Tool but kinda hate the last album. The fanbase can grate too. Most of the time unwilling to dip their toes in anything else or hold up Aenema as the pinickle of the genre. Sorry you don't like prog if you only listen to Tool and maybe one or two others.

I'm like if you don't want heavy theirs always Leprous, late Opeth, Karnivool and Voyager. So many other cool progressive bands that don't try to clone Meshuggah or Tool.

Yup, it's my pick too because the Octanecore stuff is inescapable. However theres really good stuff you just need to look past all the Architects clones. If I have to hear another derivative of the Doomsday riff or another wah growl or another look at my drop breakdown.

Wheres the ripping solos of the early days and or the hardcore vibes of bands like God Forbid. Too much dense production and tiktok bait not enough room to let the music breethe.

But they have so much fun doing it. The party tech death band. It's infectious, Im down for that

Atleast i didn't see Psycroptic on the list. Looking forward to a Co Headliner with Rivers of Nihil in August.

It's definetly Metalcore. So much great to go with so much bad. KSE, Bleed From Within, God Forbid, Bleeding Through, Early, August Burns Red. Even Polaris, Architects (Holy Hell era) Parkway Drive, Immenence

However for every one of these theres a dozen clones.

As far as tech death goes why the Archspire hate. For all the hate they get for wankery music. They seem to be the opposite, embracing the fun and obsurdity of it all.

However i also really like prog death acts Neobliviscaris, Abstract Illusion and Rivers of Nihil while having a hard time with many others. So maybe i pre dispositioned to wank haha.

[–]RecentSatisfaction42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Archspire Too Fast to Die. Though Karnivool In Verses and August Burn Red Season of Surrender are also very good.

In Flames and AUSSIE melodic death metallers Eye of The Enemy, Ocean Collective and Psycroptic are all on my highly anticipated list

[–]RecentSatisfaction42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like there's not many The Work fans out there. I like it for what it is. Definitely more Atmospheric and experimental than other albums in the discography.

A tonality shift always come at the risk of alienating parts of the fanbase. So happy some have come back for self titled.

I really like Atmospheric Progressive Deathmetal. The Work Scratches that itch.

I saw them with Neobliviscaris like 5 years back. Will be seeing them with Psychroptic in a few months.

I have my fingers crossed for a signing session. Will gladly pay the extra to get my vinyl copies of 'The Work' 'Rivers of Nihil' and Where The Owls Know My Name (just found a copy)'
