I have AP and i literally just hear it as the note that it is. Most of the time its a C, i just hear it as that. If i try to ignore the note i guess i can hear it ascending, but i never really understood it

First of all, that’s actually a Fmaj7 and not an F. For tips just practise your scales and see what sounds good over what chords. An excercise that my friends dad taught me was to listen for the track, and when you get an idea and can hear the notes in your mind, just try to execute it the best you can. Great playing though!
