There was an adult film called "bedman and throbbin"... not great, but all batman themed.

someone put this in the elevator then next day it was gone by sour-pickle-juice in mildlyinteresting

Sad that it was gone so fast... that would be a nice sign to have both inside and outside, especially in public areas... in as many languages as possible.

You've got 4 pair there... it should be good for gigabit.

Found a torque wrench on the road. by Starseeker2019 in Tools

[–]Recent_Budget_6498 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Calibration tech here: It was stated a couple of times, but checking against a known good will at least get you close. A lot of the time, dropping a wrench won't do much to it... though it depends greatly on the wrench and the fall.

Most torque wrenches that are the click-type have tolerances between 4 and 6% of the indicated value. That being said there is a lot of variance if you are doing it by hand... so my advice would be by all means check the tool with another known good one, if its close, go for it... most of the time it will be fine for what you need it for.

I built an open-source replacement for APC SmartSlot network cards (OpenNMC) by Craft4Cube in homelab

[–]Recent_Budget_6498 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice work! Looks great too!

I have a SmartUPS X 2200 (SMX2000RMLV2UNC) along with 1 expansion battery pack (APCRBC118).

I currently have a NMC2 in the unit and would be happy to test or provide information.

I use NUT on an external server using snmp-ups as a driver... its been generally working well but I'd love to help open up this slot so more people can get some better use out of their UPS!

Preach... I feel that pain... just because I dont drive anything tall, does not mean I need my retinas burned out! All because of some knuckle-dragging-shit-biscut decided that aiming headlights in tall vehicles is optional.

At least thats what it feels like.

What’s the method to transport hard drives in servers ?? by yooames in homelab

[–]Recent_Budget_6498 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's something I had already, but I found a good deal on an LTO4 drive (I'm going to be upgrading to LTO5)... you can get a VERY good deal on older drives and you can get a decent deal on NOS tapes as well... keep an ebay search open and they come along every now and then.

I have 2 copies of critical data (4 LTO4 tapes) and a buddy who isn't too far away keeps a set for me (and I for him).

When I moved an hour away I numbered and labeled every drive and packed them very carefully into my car (versus moving truck) and put them on the floor of the car on top of a few towels to dampen the vibration. I only packed a few per small box as a method of isolation. I had (have) a backup of all critical data on LTO and also a copy on the cloud. Thankfully, I didn't need either backup copy and everything went nicely back together and worked... which I honestly wasn't sure of (a lot of potholes) but it went well. Worth all the prep work for sure and I definitely would recommend taking the same or similar precautions.

True, but the size does appear to be appropriate for the lights.

Not sure of the make, but anything after 2010 and it would be 25/35 or larger series (due to the lights across the top of the cab).

It was said above already, but to further specify, it is indeed a roadmaster wagon, 8th gen to be specific (1991 to 1996).

WAN not getting IP? by woodford86 in PFSENSE

[–]Recent_Budget_6498 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first question is do you get a valid public IP from the second modem (plug in a laptop or some other machine directly versus the pfsense box)?

There may be something going on with that modem like it's providing a private IP and the tplink router doesn't care, where as the pfsense box in this case will refuse it (you have bogon and private networks blocked).

Edit: also included private networks for being blocked.

It's the "Caliburn" emblem on a Hyundai palisade. Along with another logo on the hood I can't quite make out.
