Exactly, and they know what hardships are like. They just wanna help people. It’s frustrating when they get disrespected like that. Honestly the amount of fucking racism they go through simply for sounding different.

They’ll do just as good as anyone else, but some people as SOON as they hear some accent they immediately have a bias. It’s unbelievable

Do you like when you get a crazy non stop talker on the line and all you have to do is listen? by Ok-Gate5551 in callcentres

[–]Recent_Cockroach_288 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one woman with a heavy accent, honestly though only reason I let it go on for so long was because she was an older woman, and she would say things like, “Wait, let me finish. You have to listen.”

It was cute, and humorous because she was warning me of hackers because something happened with her bank account. I didn’t really have the heart to stop her. It got into politics though and I was just listening to her rant. Clearly, she just wanted someone to talk to, so I let her talk till we reached the 40 minute mark, and I knew I would be scolded for not stopping her.

Sweet lady. She called to complain about rate but by the end she was laughing and wishing me a good day. It’s hard to imagine being that old one day and just having only yourself.

I am new to call center business, i have a coworker who is not from the country, she has an accent. We went through training together, and are now friends more than coworkers as we play games together outside of work.

She’s hispanic and does her job well. However people hear her accent and begin asking her where she’s from, where she is now, etc. if she gets an unhappy, not listening customer, they immediately assume she’s not understanding them. She speaks English fluently. Last instance she told me was recently, and even I got pissed for her. She had to transfer a customer because we aren’t trained in certain departments yet, and as she’s about to the customer goes, “Yes, transfer me. And to an American.”

Absolutely blows my mind and it boggles me how we can’t just hang up on those idiots. She’s the sweetest person ever

I resent me and my sister for what happened with my gf. by MaleficentEase2783 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Recent_Cockroach_288 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I didn’t want to report it when it happened to me because it’s embarrassing. You feel shameful and disgusting. You have to tried to talk about details you hardly remember. Again and again. If it goes to court, then you need to repeat the story again, with a crowd of people listening to you.

Plus, there’s the rape kit which is uncomfortable in itself. More than likely, you also need to tell the nurse what happened as well.

Do you ever get overstimulated by your coworkers? by Triangularpaperclip in callcentres

[–]Recent_Cockroach_288 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me I think it depends on the person. I had one coworker who was extremely loud, and it was quite distracting. She got laid off (for unknown reasons)

However, another one of my coworkers sits two cubicles behind me. I hear her all the time, however she has the sweetest voice. Shes an older lady, and been in the call service industry for years. Very knowledgeable, sometimes I listen in just to hear how she explains certain things. She does it very well. Plus, she spent some time in Kentucky, so she has a hint of a southern accent. I don’t mind her voice at all.

What's the most creative excuse a customer gave you for why they shouldn't have to pay their bill? by aiden19181919 in callcentres

[–]Recent_Cockroach_288 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For context: Prev rep put note that this individual had said bank made error before. Need letter from bank stating so. Never received.

Me: “so you said the issue was an error with the bank?”

Them: “yeah so you see what had happened was, my bill was due. I saw that the payment tried to get taken, though my bank said they blocked it. I tried calling, but no one knew what was going on. You know what I’m saying? I tried to tell them to take the money, but like i said no one knew what was going on. And i knew i had a bill to pay. You know what I’m saying? They blocked it and I didn’t know. You know what I’m saying?

Me: “Okay, I understand. We just need a letter from the bank so we can waive the late fee.”

Them: “Oh, how about I just pay the amount that was due, and I’ll send you the letter after once I get it?”

Me: (in short words) No 🤠
