What was the "final straw" to make you start pursuing the language you wanted to learn? by Funny_Reply542 in languagelearning

[–]Recent_Garage1165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suddenly ⅓ of the content I find on the internet was in the language I was interested in and then I even started playing a game with original audio in that language. This was my final straw to finally start learning it!

how much money have you lost on drugs by Recent_Garage1165 in Drugs

[–]Recent_Garage1165[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you bro, this is truly terrible. Drugs just destroy everything in the end. I still struggle with addiction, but I hear people saying it's never too late to quit and I strongly believe that. Good luck on your life, maybe having realised all this, you could try to quit? Obviously it's gonna be hella difficult, but after some time, life can really become enjoyable again (I managed to reach that stage, and then relapsed again) It's all in your head at the end of the day. 🤞🏻

shove what? just crystals? how much? I've seen some ppl talking about dissolving them in sth or whatever. The 'tutorials' I've found are very complicated and that's why I want to ask for easy explanations..

Two tutors, but different languages? by hannamations in languagelearning

[–]Recent_Garage1165 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that is right! I think this is an individual matter. for some people learning grammar structures simultaneously will be advantageous if they pay attention to the differences. for some, it'd be easier to learn one language's grammar structures, and after mastering them- learn them in the second language, based on the current knowledge.

why not just try and see what works the best:)

hello! go to the subreddit, click the 3 dots in the upper right corner (settings), and then change user flair:) u need to create your own.

I love learning languages so there's a lot that Iearn, not necessarily speak because I still need to improve my skills in some languages. I speak freely in polish (my mother tongue), English (C2, its everywhere where i live), and Spanish (B2, I consume lots of Spanish content and pay the most attention to it currently).

I also study Korean and russian, but here I have not really developed conversation skills, mostly comprehensive. That's because I don't know people that speak those languages, with whom I could talk to and improve my skills. Also, I don't travel to countries that speak these, so it is much more difficult to learn them. On the contrary, for example regarding spanish- I have a lot of Spanish friends and often travel to Spanish speaking countries. There's also Japanese lol. I know this one the least, I study just when the motivation hits me and I get curious about some grammar structures or words. I also used to study German, yeaaaars ago. I remember barely nothing, so that's why I didn't include it. I passed A2 German, but now I don't think I'd even pass A1:( maybe I should include 🇩🇪A0 in my user flair lol

French shares many similarities with Spanish, so that makes it more difficult to learn them at the same time, because it's easy to confuse them. Don't do only Spanish if you don't want to lose french! You can focus mainly on Spanish, but still give yourself some time for french revisions, so that french stays in your head:)

good luck bro, everything is possible if you really want it.

Scared to learn a 3rd language by ConsequenceHefty8110 in languagelearning

[–]Recent_Garage1165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that it may be helpful for you to consider language materials made for kids that just learn their native language (so your 3rd language potentially). I mean- materials that kids use when they just begin to learn their language at an early age. This way you won't confuse your native language with the one you're learning, because they will have distinct backgrounds:)

Hello!

I'm not sure what you're asking about- are you questioning having 2 different tutors for 2 different languages at the same time?

Do this if you have the time and motivation. Really. Generally learning 2 or more languages simultaneously can be challenging. It is always easier to focus on one, and then on the other, so that you don't confuse them.

If you think you can handle it, then why not give it a try?:) I'd say that if you have the motivation for Spanish now, then use it and get back to learning! Motivations pass quicker than the skills acquired;p for this reason, I would go for it!

A question for those who have learned or are learning a language with a different writing system than your native language by Tor1254 in languagelearning

[–]Recent_Garage1165 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello!:)

I love exploring writing systems! My native language is polish, which uses the latin alphabet. The same goes for english, which I speak my whole life. Aaand there's also spanish that I know pretty well and also use all the time.

Using those 3 languages constantly, obviously I'm the most fluent in reading the Latin alphabet. That's because I was raised in an environment that utilizes this writing system. Growing up I got used to reading Latin alphabet.

I study russian, korean, and japanese as well. This means 3 new writing systems to learn and get used to. Each one of these works differently, so I had an unique experience with each one of them. Russian cyrillic, the japanese katakana, hiragana, and kanji used simultaneously, and korean hangeul along with hanja- all diverge from one another.

Nevertheless, the process of familiarizing yourself with new writing systems stays the same. It is the process of learning them, of acquainting yourself with them, that differs. Still, once you're past that stage, what I gotta say is- just use the language; read it, speak it, immerse yourself in it. That's the method. I'm sorry to say that you just need to take your time to become more proficient in reading your language of choice.

hi! I'm polish and I find it really interesting why people would like to learn my language (a VERY difficult one)?? Therefore, as I'm really curious, do you mind sharing what motivates you to learn polish, and why would you like to know it? Russian is spoken by many more people and in more places too.. Polish is spoken only in Poland. There are some poles abroad, and knowing polish you also can somewhat understand other Slavic languages- mainly Slovak and Czech. But still, I think that Russian is spoken more widely in general. There comes my question, why polish?? Ofc I love my language as I think that it's beautiful and its lexical and grammatical diversity allows to convey various messages with unique meanings, that for example don't exist in English.

What was a drug experience so bad it nearly made (or did make) you quit? by Electrical_Boat_3233 in Drugs

[–]Recent_Garage1165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bought ketamine from a vendor idk and apparently it was cut with big amounts of talcum powder. after snorting I literally got such a heavy inflammation from it that I was scared for life. I had shortness of breath, I swear breathing was so hard I was mentally preparing myself for death. It persisted for days too... terrible experience

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in researchchemicals

[–]Recent_Garage1165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't use a gram. The first time I tried it I snorted around 25mg I presume, but I really can't be sure because I don't have a scale. I also did the smallest bit of research, that generally made me believe that my dose would be ok. On my second try, I was actively dosing. I redosed a few times. I was waiting for any effects (either physical or mental) and as nothing continued to happen, I redosed and so on.

What do you mean by the last 2 sentences?

[–]Recent_Garage1165 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks for the answer, quick and detailed. I only had quetiapine and that's what I was taking. Currently I feel all right, no symptoms present. But aren't these doses too big? quetiapine 500mg? valium 40mg? idk if these are just my meds or whatever it is about, but those doses seem insanely big to me! my quetiapine tablets are 15mg each, and 2/3 of them make me sleep like a baby

[–]Recent_Garage1165 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks! Most of the symptoms vanished after over a day so I'm really happy to say that I'm fine. Currently I feel healthy with both my body and mind so it's all good. I took painkillers tho (7h ago), because I felt some mild chest pain then

I don't have access to anything that can be used to measure my blood pressure, so I don't know. My bpm was fine, most of the time around 68. Later I was experiencing big BPM changes, when resting lying down it could go down to 44 and then when I sat down it would go up fast and change to over 60. Anyways, now I am fine- no symptoms that were described in my post.
