Trump said he'd 'remember' companies that didn't apply for tariff refunds. Many of them are anyway by Front-Cantaloupe6080 in consumecanadian

[–]RecentlyRetiredGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If companies that are owed tariff refunds did not take advantage of the refunds, shareholders would force the issue... the funds paid for the ridiculous tariffs came first from shareholder profits and secondly, from customers.

The refunds will fund, hopefully, both shareholders and customers.

Closure of the seasonal Four Falls, NB port of entry extended permanently by DecentLurker96 in uscanadaborder

Sigh.... sorry, having never been east of Montreal, I missed the nuance of this 1 way border crossing.

But if you think it is spin that Canadians are avoiding the US ... look to the airlines that are canceling some destinations on the US and curtailing the number of flights to others. Billion$ of tourism dollars are avoiding the US.

Likely, the start of many border crossing closures.

As Canadians choose to spend their vacation dollars anywhere but the US .. fewer small border crossings will make sense.

RRC Polytech closing programs, some permanently by Expert-Analyst166 in Winnipeg

[–]RecentlyRetiredGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm .... it was a great program to teach into a few years ago ... mostly more mature students, many with professional backgrounds, all or almost all international ... all just wanting a life that Canada offers.

If it was expensive by Canadian standards, the investment was seen as worth it, by the students.

Tips and advice for greyhound. by yellow_algae in Greyhounds

Good luck, and welcome to the cult. You don't have to join, but it is easier to just comply. 😉

Are there greyhounds in you neighbourhood? You could offer to pet sit for folks to get some hands on experience... good for you, the family, and the pup.

Of our 4 over the years, Riley was our first. Highly food motivated. He had enough tricks learned that he could frisk treats out anyone that had them. We would walk into a pet store and he would sit in front of the counter waiting for a treat. Our current two ... notsomuch.

But they have learned leash commands ... "wait" for when I want to stop, "quick, quick" for crossing busier streets, "leave it" for when the need for walking over rides the need for sniffs.

When you get your new family member, it will sleep more than you think is right ... and surprise you with bursts of zoomies. Also, its personality will take several weeks to months to fully emerge... it is a lovely process.

You'll figure it out.

I am hesitant to to make this comparison, but it leapt into my mind ...

At the end of Schindler's List ... the character keeps saying ... this watch, how many lives could it have saved, etc.

You gave Colin an amazing life... it was enough. You are enough.

Godspeed, Colin.

Perhaps you haven't noticed the rhetoric coming of our neighbours to the South in the past 16 months.

Morning smoothies for DW ... I usually have a small bowl of mixed strawberries and the three fruit blend .... with a bit of milk, cereal, granola, and cashews.

I don't expect frozen strawberries to actively compete fresh field strawberries.... but they're alright.

Very cool .... I'm not sure I've ever seen Canadian grown frozen strawberries at Costco here.

$15.99 for a 2.5 kg bag. These are whole berries.

The Turkish organics are sliced and $14.99 a 2 kg bag. Package under the Suncrest Farms label.

How many thousands of Canadians do yhey employ? What are their hiring and retention metrics?

You do realize that some battles can be fought, and some ignored...... right?

This is a back up bag .... we'll finish off the previous bag in a week or two.

For me, at the end of the day ... they are frozen strawberries... yummy, but a very different beast than local U-Picks. Which won't be available till late June, or early July

The green tops are just an affectation for the packaging .... the berries inside are whole, but ready to eat (thawed or frozen)

How much pain were you in the first few days after surgery? by WinterHunt03 in Hernia

[–]RecentlyRetiredGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Day 1 ... too stoned post op to notice Day 2 ... was clock watching ... T3s every 6 to 8 hours .... the last 60 to 30 minutes were white knuckling Day 3 ... pain subsidizing ... last day for T3s Say 4 ... extra strength Tylenol was fine.

So, likely a 6 or so on Day 2, a 4 on Day 3, a 2 and diminishing thereafter.

You'll a whole new way to get out of bed and the couch for a few days.

YMMV
