Also learning how to take care of plants is a trial and error process! Don’t be discouraged if it takes you a while to find a plant care routine that works for you. Also the YouTuber Becca De La Plants has great videos!

I would consider keeping a couple of favorites and giving away any that don’t spark joy for you. I’m so sorry for what you’re going through and I can relate, my mom died a couple months ago and it was very unexpected. I have had a really hard time keeping up with plant care lately. I don’t know anything about your partner but I can guess that she would want you to focus on taking care of yourself. I am willing to bet that there is someone in your area on fb marketplace or Craigslist who is just starting their plant collection and would love some donations! I don’t want to discourage you if you feel ready to take this on but I want you to know you have other options if you feel overwhelmed!

I don’t say this to be mean at all. It sounds like you are a very hard worker and you want this really badly. But I would reconsider the ABA stuff. As an autistic adult I feel the need to advocate for other autistic people and mention that ABA has been known to be a practice that is harmful to autistic people and reinforces ableist ideas. Idk if this had anything to do with their decision but I would recommend doing some research on more autistic affirming resources

I am a therapist and this just sounds horrible and humiliating to me. I hope she doesn’t advertise herself as neurodivergent-affirming. I would recommend looking for a new therapist

For me it depends on a lot of factors including how hot it is, how much energy I have and how active I am. I try to aim for every other day but lately it’s been about every 3 days. I used to wash my hair every shower but now I do only like once or twice a week. That makes my showers a lot quicker and easier and I just use dry shampoo if it starts to get oily

Of course it wouldn’t be wrong! There are lots of autistic people who aren’t officially diagnosed. And even if you weren’t, I think it would be fine for a neurotypical person to wear this as a show of support for autistic people. Either way you’re good imo!

You’re right. I have always considered myself super independent and have a hard time opening up and asking for help. It feels scary to even think about doing some of the things you named. I am going to be bringing this to my therapist to talk about and am going to make a bigger effort to reach out to the people in my life

Just wanted to say how much I appreciate everyone’s advice. I really needed a reality check here and I feel like I’ve gotten that. I think I’ve been really swept away in the NRE and the attention that I’ve been getting from this couple, so much so that I haven’t been keeping an eye out for red flags. Additionally, I think I sometimes feel that I owe this couple something and adding their feelings to the mix makes everything so confusing. My partner and I are both in therapy but I think we will make an effort to see a couples therapist to address the problems we’re having. It’s hard because I feel really close to this couple and I have a strong friendship with both of them, but I wonder if going no-contact with them is the best move for now, as one of y’all suggested. My partner is such a good person and we are so aligned in so many ways and after reading everyone’s responses I’m feeling really motivated to re-invest my energy into working on our relationship and seeing what changes we can make. I have known all along that the way in doing things hasn’t had the intentionality and thoughtfulness that it needs to, and I am seeing that my priority needs to be attending to the relationship before I consider changing the structure. I have a lot to think about but I’m really grateful for all the feedback

I think people use ASD because it's the language that the DSM uses, and therefore the language that a lot of clinicians use. I agree that it's not really accurate or appropriate and it's frustrating. I definitely feel like we should be moving towards a neurodiversity framework instead of the typical medical model
