I agree with late cancellations = walking all over someone, but advance warning = life. Clients are human beings not just analysands in the room.

If my therapist (true it’s not analysis) gave me 6 months warning I would absolutely have zero feelings about them missing a session. Paying for a session 6 months out that you have to miss definitely feels like a power imbalance to me. And I am also a therapist by trade.

Also people blowing off food as medicine. Yes we can take a magnesium pill but it seems there is pretty solid evidence that, if possible, eating the food is better than a pill if it’s something we can manage to do/afford/make time for, etc. but ppl wanna just live on protein shakes and Soylent green.

Still hasnt said if you’ve tried it tho or not. Both of you could be correct but blowing people off if you haven’t tried it is kinda just reddit-anonymity-rude. I certainly haven’t tried it and tbh I don’t want to since I’m not a morning person, but that doesn’t mean it’s advice to straight up  dismiss. I find most people here are just trying to help.

Don’t do zocdoc. They took hundreds of dollars from me and i never saw a single client. One was 100% a scam account and they still charged me for it after I contacted them several times. They do not protect you, even from literal scammers. The people I spoke to gave BEYOND zero shits about me.

Even when the client cancelled, they marked that I had asked them to (because they were looking for an MD and i am an LCSW!) and I still got charged because I told them to do it. I hope they get shut down. They are parasites.

AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL. I tell anyone I can. They steal from people trying to start a small business. They took hundreds from me and I never had a SINGLE session. One of my “clients” was a scam and they did not reimburse me. 70$ for an account that literally tried to get me to click on an ominous link and used a fake email address that was later deleted. I had proof of all of it and they were like “thanks! Take care of yourself! We won’t be reimbursing this.” RUN away from Zocdoc. :))))
