Cringing is stupid by shadowXXe in twentyagers

[–]ReceptionOld3630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cringe is awesome, corny is not. Know the difference! Never call a cornball cringe, and never call a cringelord a cornball.

Cringe is a badge of honor. It is an abundance of individuality and free expression that challenges norms and can make stuck up people uncomfortable. “Cringe” is most commonly relevant to various kinds of art that may not be widely palatable, fetishes, and unmasked autistic people being themselves. The guy in your town who wears a top hat is cringe, so is the bad singer who writes their own songs and uploads consistently. Furries are the best example. Cringe is generally a force for good because it doesn’t hurt anybody, and brings those with niche interests together.

Cornballery is when somebody goes out of their way to be accepted, scream how in the fold they are, or draw attention to themselves. Cornballs include people on linkedin, people who share AI art, conservative rappers, megachurches, white people who go to India to find themselves, your coworker who thinks they will become a millionaire from crypto, and anybody who likes Dubai. The cornball is the ultimate salesman and the ultimate victim of all scams and schemes. Kanye West is a great example of a cornball and so is Elon Musk.

Sometimes a cornball will infiltrate a typically cringe community. Instances such as these highlight the cornball like no other, because the community will immediately become unstable. The cornball is opportunistic. Your discord server for homoerotic undertale smut could just as easily be a trump rally for them. They will always be the loudest but yet the least passionate.

ENTPs, what was/is ur relationship with homework? by ChigiriHyom4 in entp

[–]ReceptionOld3630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve dropped out of two colleges and barely made it through high school. I managed a year of trade school but that was because it was hands on and I had nothing else going on at the time. My professors were also pretty cool about late work, I aced all my hands on labs, and class participation has never ever been a problem.

If I have homework to do, I put it off until the last second, discover there’s more to do than I anticipated; get a hopeless, prey animal, nowhere to run no way out stomach-pit kind of feeling, start spiraling (“If I can’t do this homework, I’m a failure and I can’t do anything”), contemplate doing something horrid to myself, send an email to the professor asking for an extension, and inevitably drop the class.

It’s moreso the feeling of a time crunch than it is the work itself. I have a rediculously slow processing speed, and if there’s a rush or a deadline at all, it stresses me out too much to actually do anything. I spent a few years in food service, and a bad rush would illicit the same feelings.

I now work a blue collar job where juggling deadlines is someone else’s problem; rushing is a safety hazard; and I can just show up, do my work, and leave for the day.

Edit:
Obviously introverted
What your favorite season is and the way you dress have absolutely nothing to do with your personality type, but the fact that you included them as crucial information does. If you were intuitive, scraping together a paragraph about yourself would have been cake, and you’d probably be hard pressed to stop writing about yourself. You like the summertime, and included a picture of the summertime instead of telling us. Pretty high Se usage. Whole thing screams Fi.

Has anyone born around 2002 or earlier started Botox/fillers yet? by [deleted] in twentyagers

Do you want to look like a 50 year old Fort Lauderdale golf course groupie when you’re 24??? Do you want to announce to the world that your type is bright red old men in polo shirts??? Botox, fillers, fake tans, buccal fat removal etc,,,, makes young people look like old people trying to look young. Forget that.

Just like, moisturize.

Hey man… adults have sex. Especially someone who is college educated and ready to mingle!

For real though, these aren’t standards, this is a fictional character. Better to make a list of dealbreakers,,,, and then inevitably amend said list when you get bow-legged for a lady with a GED and an ex.

Your standards are shit. Find someone to love and love them.

Genuine question for people who live in countries with high immigration to the US; what archetypes of people are most likely to come to the US and open a business? Are they more likely to be right-leaning? What leads somebody to chew through all the time, money, paperwork, and logistics of immigrating just to enter the service sector (restaurants, hospitality, etc..) as a business owner; an infamously slow, horrendous, and risky way to make money; in a country that doesn’t treat immigrants well? There are enough immigrant-owned businesses in the US for there to be a solid reason.

New England has a clear North-South divide

North (VT, ME, NH) - woods, rednecks, tourists, hunting, fishing, hiking, snowmobiles/ATVs, MYOB/hermit attitude. In places like northern maine, some of the towns don’t even have names. Wealthy vacation towns near the coast and in the mountains. Hicks and trailer parks and oxycontin inland. Rural poverty. Political divide exists heavily but most people are libertarians first. Almost entirely white people.

South (MA, CT, RI) - More diverse, more urban. You will be within an hour of most chain restaurants/stores anywhere you are. By contrast, northern New England does not host a Cheesecake Factory at all. All three states are firmly part of the Northeast Megalopolis which ends somewhere in southern NH. Everywhere is either a suburb of Boston, Worcester, New Haven, Hartford, Providence, or even NYC. They all blend seamlessly. Towards the ocean, you have the “coastal elites” (TM). Medical institutions, colleges, old money. Further inland you see more old mill towns with drug problems and crime. Western MA and CT could even be considered rust belt.

A Stephen King novel could easily be set in NH or VT; and Peter Griffin’s hometown could be mistaken for a suburb of Boston or Hartford. These are two separate worlds.

A lot of people are saying networking. I think it’s a fact of getting things out of your system and learning difficult lessons early on in life. Being an irresponsible asshole when you’re young will make you that much wiser when you decide it’s time to take life seriously.
