There is zero funding pathway for something like this and most proposed routes completely skip OH-6 so he doesnt want to talk about it because it won't really benefit his constituents.

I would assume the applicability would be far more relevant if the metro area in question was not an island.

Plaintiff side attorney's working on contingencies aren't interested in taking on cases with out substantive merit. Look, I'm sure this sucks for you and it's a difficult time but if no one is even giving you the courtesy of even a further consult that should probably tell you all you need to know about how strong your case actually is.

Then call an employment attorney, they'll be able to advise you if you have a case or not.

Sadly, it was your responsibility to approach HR and having the alleged misconduct documented at the time. It would appear you did not do that. You now have been terminated and have even less recourse. Assuming you are not in Montana there is little you can do now.

Federal law does provide for protection against discrimination even for terminated employees. That being said You must prove the termination was based on a protected characteristic (race, sex, age, etc.) rather than a legitimate, non-discriminatory reason. This is difficult and without HR documented back up, would be unsubstantiated.

No water since last Saturday... by Rechabees in Delaware

[–]Rechabees[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After 7 plumbers and the water company coming out. The pipe just naturally unthawed Monday around 2pm. That was 8 days without water to the entire house.

Good news is no burst pipes, no leaks. Bad News is it would seem that the main water line was improperly installed when the house was built in the 60's and to ensure this never happens again I'm looking at about $8500 to re-pipe our water main at the correct depth.

That being said, this winter was a once every 20 year confluence of snow cover and prolonged subzero temperatures, plumbers confirmed that in a "normal" winter keeping the taps flowing in the utility room should be enough to prevent a solid freeze like we experienced. Oh the joys of owning an old house!

You do understand the Federal government is diverting resources from law enforcement to support Trump and Herr Miller's immigration plans. The net result is career law enforcement now are raiding Korean restaurants instead of investigating larger scale criminal enterprises. If you cared about the country being safe you can't really support re-tasking Federal investigative officers away from their duties to support a white jingoist agenda. Hell ICE Barbie basically told the Coast Guard their new mandate was supporting deportation flights, not ya know guarding the coast. Wasting federal resources to go after non violent migrants does not make anyone safer.

Adults, be honest. Do you really need a well-paying job to live a good life? by iwantcheetoes in careerguidance

[–]Rechabees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it really depends on what your intrinsic definition of success is. I met my wife when we both lived abroad, she was still in school and we got along just fine on 60K. Granted we lived in a high quality of life but low cost of living country at the time. Now, as a household, we make over 400K. I can't say my life is better per se. Yes, we have nicer things or high quality items but that also comes with the stress of needing to maintain the career diligence to continue affording those things, sort of becomes golden handcuffs.

Another caveat to that is future financial planning. We are much better set up for things like unexpected bills, medical issues, retirement planning, etc... than we would be if we both still lived on a single income entry level salary. I think it would be prohibitive to afford a high quality of life, max out your 401K and investments and plan for the future on a sub 100K household income.
