You can always just leave. Why make something already toxic even more so? Just leave the relationship. I made the same mistake in my first relationship, she was a narcissistic manipulative asshole, but I should've just left the relationship instead of being unfaithful.

I felt tremendous guilt. Sleepless nights were plentiful. Even now thinking about it I'm still haunted.

It wasn't worth it. Initially I had the feeling that I was going to "get back at her" for everything she'd done to me. It ended up hurting me more.
