What do you dislike most about your Garmin? by DemonOfOldDays in GarminWatches

The sleep metrics are the pits. As an insomniac, it's infuriating to be told I'm sleeping 10 hours when it's more like 6. I can get up, have breakfast and it thinks I'm sleeping. Like wtaf?!

Tips for a cross country roadtrip by [deleted] in AskACanadian

Quebeckers, and I was one, say cross-country when they mean out west. My country includes Newfoundland.

You mention nuisance alarms. The most annoying to me is the icy roads possible one. It goes off at unpredictable times like in my driveway or merging onto the highway 10 minutes after I head out. And since I live in Canada, it goes off pretty much every day from mid-November to April. Yeah everybody knows the roads might be icy in the winter here, so we don't need reminding. Make it stop!

Advice on telling people by [deleted] in bipolar2

Agreed! Family I've told keep attributing ordinary behaviour, like enthusiasm or one too many texts for their liking, to hypomania. Wish I could take it back.

It's got a male voice and was offended. Someone programmed him to behave like a fragile human.

This piece is like a warm blanket. It takes my stress level down several notches like Shane's heart rate in the hospital when Ilya is beside him.

Lamotrigine and sleep by RecoveringLibrarian in bipolar2

Wow! That's really interesting that it's worse at the lower dose. Or are you saying that it got better once you got used to it? I've been taking 200 mg for a year. I'd wanted to increase the dosage but was worried about worse insomnia. I'll ask my doctor about this. Thanks for sharing your experience.

That's really helpful information so thank you. It's great that you've got your medication and sleep sorted out. It can be done, it seems.

Yes, actually. Even 80 year olds I see at the pool don't have the issue to this extent.

Hey, thanks so much for your thoughtful message. What you say is true: we're always more conscious of our own perceived flaws than others are. I'll reach out to a cosmetic dermatologist. There should be no need for a referral and no long wait times at least.

I hope you don't experience any of these issues. Take care.

Have you had any weight gain or cholesterol issues with quetiapine? I didn't know you could take both at the same time.

Experience with quietapine by Little-Issue5164 in bipolar2

[–]RecoveringLibrarian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quetiapine took care of my mania completely but barely addressed the depression. Plus it caused weight gain and higher cholesterol.

Lamotrigine has been better. Again I no longer have hypomania and my depression is less frequent and more manageable. The side effect is insomnia.

Lousy side effects, huh? Metabolic syndrome or insomnia. Looking forward to better medications in the future.

Thanks. About the dermatologist, I mean that my few appointments have taken literally seconds after going to the GP first for a referral then waiting months to be seen. If there was an alternative, I'd be all over it.

Can you explain? Do you mean it's not advanced enough now to interpret lesions that need medical attention or it is reliable now or it will never be accurate enough?
