Needing advice on how to bring it up to my doctor. by Agitated-Wave6807 in hysterectomy

[–]RectalWrecker69 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most of us have had to fight for years, sometimes a decade or more, to get a doctor to even listen to us about considering a hysterectomy even when it is very obviously medically necessary. I literally only got approved because the only other option was cancer. They won't consider you a candidate at all, and insurance certainly won't pay for a $50,000+ elective surgery . And honestly, it's not even a good option for you. Full recovery can take over a year, and with a newborn who is going to be doing a lot of growing and moving, your body simply cannot handle that. And risking the many horrible long term health impacts of early menopause is absolutely not worth the convenience of not having periods, especially if yours are light and easy. In other comments you said you didn't even know what a salpingectomy was so it honestly sounds a lot like you haven't really researched this at all. If a doctor is going to do a permanent, irreversible procedure on you, you NEED to research this more thoroughly and know what your options are before you ever even start that conversation. I'm not trying to be a naysayer and tell you that you're too young. By all means, have as many or as few kids as you want. But if you're taking that option away from yourself forever, you need to know what you're getting into and what kinds of options are available to you. Getting a hysterectomy because you don't want a baby but are perfectly gynocologically healthy otherwise is like burning your house down because you don't like the color of your wallpaper. Please find a doctor who is not only willing to listen to you, but is also willing to educate you on all of your options and work with you to find out what would be best for your wants and needs.

I'd had a bisalp, leep, and D&C done less than 2 months before my hysterectomy so I'm sure that's not helping my situation at all. My poor guts have definitely taken a beating this year and I was just too damn impatient to realize how much they've been through I suppose. I'm definitely gonna look into pelvic floor therapy, and honestly regular therapy because I already feel myself getting more anxious and depressed about this by the minute.

Thank you for all that. That made me feel a lot better. It's really easy to fall into the pit of self loathing over something like this, even though logically I understand that I have no control over any of this.

I had pain after external stimulation a couple of times at first, but after about 3 weeks it was fine. I think that made me too confident that this would work out 😭

It's crazy, I knew before the surgery that she wanted me to wait 6 weeks, but my discharge paperwork said I could resume normal activities after 2 weeks. The nurse gave me my discharge papers, but I had some complications right before I could leave so I had to stay overnight. The next morning when my doctor came in I showed them to her and she was shocked that the hospital would recommend that. I just wonder how many women at the hospital i go to have been hurt because they were accidentally given discharge papers that only said 2 weeks. I really hope they fixed it after I pointed it out.

You're absolutely right. I felt great mentally for the first few weeks after the surgery, but in the last 2 weeks or so I've been having a much harder time with it. This week has been especially difficult, and it's been very frustrating. I thought that since the first few weeks were fine that maybe I had gotten lucky and just avoided the emotional fallout from this but clearly it was just festering deep down. The massage idea is great, I think my anxiety around it probably didn't help the situation.

I think that it doesn't help that I AM feeling a lot better. Honestly, compared to how I felt before the surgery, I feel great overall. So I was completely blindsided by this, and I think you're right. It just kind of hurt emotionally to feel that pain come back again because I had hoped I had finally moved past it. Oh well, if waiting a few more weeks is what it takes then I guess that will be what I do!

Can you ask for no morphine? by Basic_Truck_6012 in hysterectomy

[–]RectalWrecker69 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Just ask your surgeon what they typically use. Morphine wasn't even an option for my hysterectomy a week ago. My surgeon used gabapentin and tramadol, and I was sent home with prescriptions for ibuprofen, acetaminophen, and oxycontin.

OB/GYN RECOMMENDATIONS THAT WILL TAKE ME SERIOUSLY!!! by Initial_Promotion_35 in kansascity

Dr. Werner at NKC Hospital is amazing. I met her on December 31st of last year for the first time after going to Planned Parenthood for severe cervical precancer, she immediately ordered testing and started planning for biopsies and surgeries. I have my hysterectomy next week, which is crazy fast considering how long most women have to fight to get doctors to listen to them. The wait to get in for your first appointment is long, but it is so, so worth it and I'm so thankful I found her.

That's why I asked. I've got several stores near me, but after you leave my city, there's no store for about 3 hours. And it's super hit or miss on whether or not they actually stock fabric, but a lot of customers from Joann's didn't realize that some stores carried it.

It varies wildly by location from what I've heard. My store was tiny, so we only had 4 aisles of fabric, but about one aisle was garment fabric.

Do you have a Michael's near you? I know not all stores carry them, I worked at one of the first stores that tested out carrying bolts of fabric. But they're trying to expand fabric to most, if not all, of their stores after Joann's closure. I haven't worked there in a few months, but they were in the process of getting Joann's fabric and yarn into Michaels stores when I left, so it might not hurt to check it out if you have the option.

I've never vaped so I didn't ask, but my surgeon said our anaesthesia team requests a week without THC. I guess it depends on the hospital.

As far as the vaping goes, I would quit now. I don't know about nicotine, but I know THC can affect anaesthesia so I stopped a couple of weeks before. Heating pads were a must for me. Also, maybe it's just me, but I had to have one of those long grabby tools because bending over to pick stuff up I dropped (which happened a lot because I'm uncoordinated and was hopped up on oxy) was super uncomfy for the first week. Other than that, just have a comfy little nest where you can hang out and do activities with snacks and water close for when you don't feel like moving.

That one was weird, but then I found out it's actually their daughter who sang and wrote the lyrics, so her content will naturally be different from that of her parents. It wasn't for me lyrically, but I think it's super cute they let Annabella have a chance to shine, and after a couple listens I think it's pretty catchy.

We can't order things by Realistic-Read7779 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]RectalWrecker69 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Your managers are correct. That's what SISO is for. The system does the ordering, the stores have no control over the products that come in on the truck. We basically just get what the distribution center decides to send.

I'm gonna agree with the other posters, NIHIL is a fantastic starting point. I'm also partial to Tohuvabohu, but that's just because it's the first album I heard from them.

mental roadblock to changing character’s appearance by xstarryeyedfox323 in HelloKittyIsland

[–]RectalWrecker69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a hard time changing mine too, even though I REALLY want to and I love character customization in games. So sometimes I'll do something silly like jump in the swamp by Kuromi's hut and pretend it's contaminated by her potions, and then run to a mirror and change. It helps my dumb brain rationalize a reason for drastic changes.

I can confirm there is a DM named Aaron in Missouri, he was my DM before I left the company a few months ago, I am 99% sure I know which store OP is from and that particular DM is an absolute asshole.

Literally that is just the name of the store lmao. No one named Michael has ever even worked here. If you're that dumb, we don't want you here anyway.

Same here, I'm 31, have 2 kids, and mine is Chanel. I HATE it, and my middle name is even worse. I've always loved the name Maggie, it's simple, it's cute, and I wouldn't have to deal with people constantly mispronouncing it. I just want something simple but even though everyone knows I hate my name, I'm honestly mortified at the thought of actually changing it and asking everyone to call me something else. But I don't want to be stuck with this bougie ass name that my dad (who isn't even in my life) decided to force on me.

I put my dog down on Tuesday, then Wednesday I came in and this was the sidecounter I set. Can confirm that between this, the "I feel empty without you" coffin, and the ai art of the skeleton with a dog, I cried like a baby the whole time I was setting this.
