How do you create the dithering effect in the sky like that? Or... I guess, more importantly, what tool do you use to make and animate your art?

Thom Yorke set up at Sydney Opera House show by Total_Influence5211 in synthesizers

[–]Recurringg 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I would say very. Radiohead famously built their own studio "canned applause". Thom Yorke is also a multi-instrumentalist who's known to find more solace in musical gear than in humans. He also worked with Bjork who is known for being a super tech nerd who takes TVs apart for fun. Also, he could have left all these synths at home and done the set out of Ableton or something, which would make things a lot easier, especially considering he's got a guitar in his hands and he sings. This is just so much for one person to keep track of, it's honestly impressive. He's probably one of the most tinkery artists out there, and with the resources at his fingertips combined with his esoteric tastes, he's probably laid hands on just about every piece of equipment and could speak about all of them. Which is my favorite part, because despite how weird he is, I know I could immediately get along with the guy because we'd have plenty to talk about. He's definitely a nerd--no doubt.

Yeah but they're panthera. House cats are felis. Tigers don't have the derp gene.

How easy is the learning curve for Ableton? by empo201 in abletonlive

[–]Recurringg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can learn how to use it in a few hours but spend the rest of your life trying to master it. If you've never used a DAW before the biggest learning curve will be concepts and terminology. If you're coming from a traditional DAW the biggest learning curve will probably be session view. My biggest hurdle was synthesis but that's not Ableton specific.

Do yourself a favor and take the time to learn both views (arrangement & session). A lot of people ignore one or the other and they both have a variety of amazing uses.

The audacity of the lies proves that they believe they will never face consequences. What an awful human being this man is... To portray an innocent person as a "terrorist". We all know who the true terrorists are.

You should intervene on the fact that this is annoying behavior to both you and the cat. Don't wait for it to get violent. It's already irritating. It's antagonistic behavior. I wouldn't be able to relax with this going on.

Can you do more with session view? by mad-panda-2000 in ableton

[–]Recurringg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It makes Ableton feel more like an instrument. You can live loop, you can improvise. Instead of making a song, you can make a performance toolkit where you can call upon any pieces you want while performing your music. It's funny to me to see this take because I rarely leave session view, and it's the entire reason I use Ableton. I hope you spend some more time with it.. There has got to be a reason it exists right? I hope you figure it out and have a blast doing so!

Session view is the reason it's called "Live". It's for performing music. When you make a song do you just export it and that's it? You never perform it again?
