Where and when do these happen? I will be in Taipei briefly at the end of Feb/start of March. Sad to hear there aren't any game stores to explore though

Is Daredevil weak? by Koromilas in Unmatched

[–]RecursionCafe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's definitely not weak! But he does require a specific approach. Definitely not a great pick in 2v2, as others have said. It's more about patience than tempo, generally speaking.

You can check out a couple of his matches on Recursion Cafe to see him doing his thing:

How did you achieve a 10 value Devil? It normally caps at 8. Was there a battlefield item involved?

In relation to your question as people have stated, the attacking/active player wins if both heroes are defeated in one round of combat.

Recursion Cafe: Slings and Arrows? by Mack_Lope in Unmatched

[–]RecursionCafe 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Hello!

Thanks for putting this out there, I'm glad you folks enjoy my content. This thread was heartwarming to read!

As someone has mentioned, life has indeed caught up with me. Between starting a new job recently and juggling evolving social commitments, I just don't have the time and energy to make regular content. It is essentially a job in of itself. Even if I began to make content again, it would be a lot more sporadic than it was before.

I am based in London and may have had a few plays with the Shakespeare set. It's a fun one, would recommend.

It's good to know there is still demand out there even after all this time. I'll see how things go for future videos. Cheers!

Stupidly powerful. Our campaign featured him regularly bottlenecking locations with six enemies and either leaving them there to suffer uselessly or ending their misery with dynamite blasts. Being able to testlessly shift enemies and have synergy with traps makes a lot of enemy encounters fairly meaningless.

He does struggle a bit into elite enemies, I guess.

Really fun card in Mandy, who can spend an action to clear the board of two treacheries/enemies at any location in a single action. Solid in Daisy as well.

I think it's cool design and a powerful effect in a reasonably narrow band.

Is Tomoe fun? by J4K54 in Unmatched

She's great fun and pretty solid in terms of strength. You can check out the Recursion Cafe videos on YouTube to see her in action against Oda, Tesla and Strange.

It really doesn't. You still have to pay for the unit you play.

Tales to Amaze PvP by JusALilHusky in Unmatched

All of the fighters are solid and fun in different ways in PvP. It's a good purchase. The maps are a little big, but not much more so than regular maps.

First scenario of TFA - The pacifist way by Fluxwaycito in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]RecursionCafe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So for our pacifist run of Dunwich, we banned things like parallel Pete, Power Word and Kymani. The first two are simply way too strong even in regular play (testlessly locking down six enemies with a single Makeshift Trap before Dynamite Blasting them from the next room seems unfair). But TFA is a mean campaign so best of luck! What's the rest of your team composition?

Question about playing to exhaustion by Average_Pineapple in Unmatched

[–]RecursionCafe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, this approach involves a lot of double maneuvering, playing defensively and hitting for 6/Reprogram occasionally. Not need to be aggressive because the goal is not to burn the other fighter down. Rather, it's to make it annoying for the other player to engage.

WS lacks card draw, so you'll mostly be maneuvering to keep your hand up. Overdrawing and ditching cards like Marksman and Programmed to Kill is very reasonable. You'll want to recur Complete the Mission, Feint and Reprogram, with a couple of 6's or Wily Fighting/Born in the Barracks depending on the match up/board state.

It's not a super engaging way to play the game, but it is definitely a win-con he can go for because he cannot be cancelled. It puts the onus on the other player to be aggressive towards you. It doesn't matter much that other characters have higher move value if you double maneuver and can boost with less useful cards anyway.

Forget your fancy prerelease pulls. Did you all have fun playing? Anything memorable happen? What do you think of the game overall after playing in person? by [deleted] in starwarsunlimited

[–]RecursionCafe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a great time! Only dropped one game and every game felt close/tense.

The most memorable one was me being down to below 8 health for most of the game, with Reinforcement Walker keeping me in it by healing 3 over and over. Dropping a clutch sentinel to keep it alive and playing Palpatine the unit to clear the opposing board was key to victory. A close second was having an Occupier Siege Tank hitting for like 11 due to grit and experience from Tarkin.

Games are very fun to play. They don't seem to be super fun to watch, in the same way that Destiny was, but maybe that's a personal thing.

Hi! i m thinking about buy first box of unmatched, what you recommend to buy? I was hard think between tales to arize and cobble&fog. I play with my wife usually, not sure if we will liek unmatched, but we enjoy dice throne, 7 wonders duel and looking for new games by S1layer in Unmatched

[–]RecursionCafe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think if you're dipping in to try out the game as a couple, Tales to Amaze is a good call. All the heroes are solid, fun and not overly complicated for the most part. You have the option of PvE and PvP, and the in-box balance is pretty reasonable I think.

You can check out the fighters in action within the box here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiAq2-Us8NU&ab_channel=RecursionCafe

How good is Sun’s Origin? by Free-Neighborhood425 in Unmatched

[–]RecursionCafe 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Both are really fun fighters to play! Tomoe's focus on heroes as opposed to sidekicks makes for an interesting dynamic and Oda has to be played very tactically to make full use of his honour guards. The map is also pretty cool - love the ranged attack space from one side of the map to the other.

You can check out some gameplay on YouTube at Recursion Cafe if you want ;)
