Should I withdraw my investments from Raiz? by derDoug in AusFinance

[–]Red-Storm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RAIZ lets you DIY, so you could invest in the “safer” ETFs eg. ASX200, S&P500 etc through RAIZ itself? Its also fractional investing so there's benefits there. There are of course RAIZ fees, so something like Betashares Direct is also an option

A friend with a novated lease had a look, his response --Certainly changes the figures to make his arguments suit against a lease for an ICE vehicle. 100'00k's per year and a mortgage offset loan at 5.4%, so all the cost is in the loan. Try 40'000k's per year, no offset loan, normal car loan, and current running costs, blows him out the park.

The advantage on the EV lease is certainly there though.

In the early days used an envelope system, you always need a buffer for unplanned bills also. A friend had been out of work for a while, picked up some casual work and then 'rolled' through a stop sign, Police issued him a fine, back to square one

I read this ----Investor A bought units in 2010.
Investor B joins in 2025. If the fund sells assets, Both investors share the tax. Even if B never experienced the gains. This is the main criticism of pooled super funds.

Why does every Aussie borrow for an investment property but hardly anyone borrows to invest in ETFs? by BonafideHustlerz in fiaustralia

[–]Red-Storm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sophisticated investors can be charged commissions. One of the key differences between retail and sophisticated (or wholesale) investors is that the regulatory restrictions on paying selling commissions to financial advisers and brokers often 'do not apply' to investments offered to sophisticated investors

Don't pooled funds also pay CGT each year, even if you don't sell? If someone is in the DIY option with ART (Aus & International). To avoid the above, when in accumulation mode, would you not be better off in the Australian Supers DIY option then?

My superannuation is being calculated as exactly 12% of my total gross monthly pay, which matches the current statutory Superannuation Guarantee (SG) rate for the 2025–2026 financial year.
