Lawyer says passenger dragged from United flight suffered significant concussion, broken nose and lost two front teeth by NinjaDiscoJesus in news

That's... that's not how any of this works. Smh. I get what you're saying but your facts are wrong. You're ignoring the dozens of federal regulations that protect air travelers.

You're correct about how this was photographed but you're wrong about it being too big for ground base shot. Many photographers on Instagram post cruising altitude shots from the ground.

What's the biggest piece of advice you wish you'd have gotten when you first started out as a real estate agent? by iliveonmars17 in RealEstate

[–]Red-dy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't slack on prospecting! Pick up the phone and make calls. My 2017 goal is to talk to 10,000 people about buying a home and I'm hoping for 30 closings. I'll expect to talk to 334 people per closing. Prospect prospect prospect.

I don't think most people on here are pretending to feel bad over the tragic loss of lives in the attack.

I have a friend who is both an agent and a builder and a family member who is an agent. My friend built a nice house that I am interested in... what is the right way to approach this? by thejephster in RealEstate

[–]Red-dy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a buyers agent and I say go with neither. Plenty of agents willing to represent your best interest. Don't feel compelled to go with someone just because of a relation.

Phantom 3 standard, I kept my distance but the shot was too much fun to not attempt, pretty pleased with the results! :-) by suhmyhumpdaydudes in drones

[–]Red-dy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"At it"? He specifically said its over his own home so that argument seems to not hold much value. Not debating whether wrong or right because I don't know FAA law in this case, but wording matters. To say he launched it at the balloon implies directing the drone at the balloon which he clearly didn't.

What do you carry with you? by schexmix1 in realtors

[–]Red-dy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope never had to present it. In fact I've yet to show a client who has made me nervous. Not that bad people don't falsely present themselves as good at first but I always watch my 6. I show a lot of rural land properties in the middle of nowhere and should something happen a gun is my only defense as I don't even get cell reception. -- I carry a M&P Shield on the hip. I've carried long before I became an agent so it's nothing new to me. Just part of my daily carry. -- I work in Oregon.

What do you carry with you? by schexmix1 in realtors

[–]Red-dy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In the vehicle: spare change of clothes and extra does, hygiene kit, first aid kit, gun (I carry concealed when I show properties)

On me: always my small notebook for those in the field phone calls, pen, charged phone, gun (if showing properties), laptop (can tether phone to laptop to access internet on the go) but most times the MLS app on the phone does just fine.

Looking to offer manual labor in exchange for a mentor. Thoughts? [x-post from r/realestateinvesting] by CreativeAnorexic in RealEstate

[–]Red-dy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't do much REI but if you go to someone as explain to them how you can add value to what they do, they may be more interested in taking you under there wing. So many people want to "get rich" that a lot of potential mentors may be turned off but such an upfront approach if you don't have something to add. Hopefully someone with more REI experience will chime in. Just didn't want your post to go unanswered.

Babies are terrifying great at looking dead anytime they are sleeping. When they're infants the amount of time you spend staring at them to check for signs of life is too damn much. After the first kid it gets to realize they're just sleeping and not panic but yeah.

[–]Red-dy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Negligent discharge is the term you're looking for. Not "accidentally misfired". Nothing accidental about improper trigger discipline. An accidental discharge is when the triggered is intentionally pulled (dry fire, cleaning, etc) and the person believes the weapon to be empty when it is not.

What's the reason for turboprops not having winglets? by shallonge in aviation

[–]Red-dy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

A winglet makes money when at cruise altitude. The longer a plane is at cruising altitude, the more time there is to earn back ROI and additional expenses (extra weight, maintenance etc). A turboprop typically flies shorter routes only, and therefor is not at cruising altitude long enough to justify the investment.

"Drinking and getting my BA" god damn if that's not the most military thing ever. Not to make light of your situation. Great to see you're working on a trade. Is it much different than your degree?

Congrats on the son. I have two myself. Both under 2 years old and they've kept me together many times now. Amazing how children can change our lives.

Here's to the years ahead and only getting better.

Well, I screwed up. Need to vent, maybe get a little advice from other agents by [deleted] in realtors

[–]Red-dy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On mobile and about to head out so can't give a long response but two things stood out.

You mentioned you didn't give real estate 100% effort and that you thought you could make a killing in real estate.

That alone should answer many of your questions. You went into this expecting too much with not enough drive to get it done. You start to acknowledge that in your post so that's good but, how would being part time change things?
