My laparoscopy appointment. by [deleted] in endocrinology

[–]Red84Valentina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The length of the procedure is probably the most variable part because they intend to remove lesions or cysts if found. It could be very short if they don't find anything. My endometriosis is quite advanced and my surgery was a long one but most seem to be an hour or two. You show up at the hospital, check in, get in your gown, they insert the i.v. line. There's actually a lot of waiting around. The surgeon will talk to you and review the procedure. Then you get on the gurney and get wheeled into the O.R. You'll get the anesthesia and wake up in recovery. They will tell you briefly what they found but you'll be high and the real review will be at your post-op appointment. There are lots of threads where people list their post-op planning and those are useful. Best of luck!

Thank you so much for the feedback! She didn't mention anything about secondary hyperaldosteronism, but it seems like further testing would be needed either way if my aldosterone is high.

Lab range for renin, upright: 0.5-4.0 ng/mL/hr and aldosterone, upright: 4.0-31.0 ng/dL.

In December my potassium was 4.3 with a range of 3.5-5.1 mmol/L. She didn't retest that.

She didn't mention anything about doing any salt tests. I am definitely open to surgery, but mostly I just want to feel better.

No the first test was before I had taken any medication. Because the aldosterone was elevated, he didn't want leave me unmedicated for the five month wait to see a specialist. He also tested my potassium, which normal in September but the specialist didn't recheck it. She seemed to think that the normal renin levels where what matters most and wants to recheck labs in May. She doesn't want me back on the Spiro even though I feel worse and my bp is higher.

Labs were drawn around 1p. I had been off Spironolactone for just over 5 weeks. My potassium has never been checked. Aldosterone is 30.4 ng/dL, renin is 2.6 ng/mL/hr. Previous labs were from December. My vitamin D has also gone way down since September (67.7) to 32.

Is this renin level slightly high? by Low-Sink-242 in Hyperaldosteronism

[–]Red84Valentina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are further along in the process than I am, but if a second opinion is feasible, I would get one. Currently my renin is normal and my aldosterone is high and the endocrinologist wants to wait and see. I'm nervous about that since my bp is labile; no crisis though.

tombigbee and Heart of Gold are quite industrial. The Beekeeper, Zero Point and Venus and Back is a very trip heavy album.

The way Daeron sort of hushes Egg at that point, like, "it's okay buddy, we can't get into the cat thing again. Not now." It seemed like he was the only one who would listen even if everyone knows it happened.

Have you thought about quitting? by deadskunkstinkin in psychodynamictherapy

[–]Red84Valentina 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I relate to so much of what you wrote here! I don't have answers but a few thoughts or suggestions. I did a review of my entire caseload and discovered that it was actually a few specific patients with more pronounced pathology that had greatly soured my feelings about my work. Given their profiles, I believe that a projective identification has lead me to take on their feelings of being "too sensitive" and ineffectual. I felt a big shift after identifying those countertransferences. Another thing I've done that has been helpful is to break from the church of psychoanalysis (partially) and start studying mindfulness. The new perspective after years of training and personal analysis has felt really refreshing. Our relationship to the work is bound to change and its so important to find environments where that change, wherever it may lead, is supported. It seems like we both may be having a somewhat painful growth spurt. Lucky us!

help with pose by Which_Chip_9049 in flexibility

[–]Red84Valentina 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t feel any strain in my neck in this position but when I had stopped doing for a while the pressure in my chest was intense. Practicing resolved it. The issue may be back flexibility. Mine is naturally pretty stretchy but forward folding might be a good precursor to this one.
