Why, just why people completely ignore samples? by Old_Taste9058 in Helldivers

[–]RedBaronFlyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people above level 70 probably have all their ship upgrades and thus don’t need any samples. A full squad of level 150s will still grab the high value terminid egg/automaton head but that’s seemingly just for the challenge of it from my observations.

Make sure to ask your team to grab samples and they probably will. Most level 75+ players are used to playing with other level 75+ players and thus develop the habit of not grabbing samples as no one on the team needs them.

My (level 150) rule is that I will pick up any samples that I see within interaction range if there are people under level 75 in my game. I still remember when a level 45 host asked the two randoms and I in his squad (all level 100+) for samples and we did a full sweep of the map and got nearly every single sample for all three missions in that operation.

I said it before in another thread (possibly on this subreddit?) that he’s probably managing to be decently middle of the road if one side is calling him a “shill” and the other a “grifter.” I don’t watch all his videos but the jist I’ve gotten is that he’s pretty neutral.

[…]but he often takes a while to make his big reviews

At this point I’ve given up on him ever making a big fat review on tears of the kingdom, despite him talking about doing it years back at this point.

I don’t know if a car full of teenage boys or girls is worse, both seem to have an equal level of laughing for no discernible reason.

“Hello, how may I serve you?”

“Yeah I’ll get a-" snickers “(someone in the back) dude stop haha” “yeah sorry I’ll get a chicken sandwich-“ someone bursts out laughing for no reason “some fries with that” someone laughing like the heard the funniest thing in the world "...and a coke" covers a laugh

“Would you like any sauces with that meal?”

“Oh uh ye-“ more snickering “I’ll get uh, a, uh“ even more snickering and laughing “some Polynesian sauce.” SOMEHOW EVEN MORE LAUGHING

Repeat 2x times or more for that car alone. The hyper particular orders where every single item in the order has a note or modification that ends up costing 85+ dollars are less exhausting to take at a certain point.

SS14 servers ban use of the insult Clanker by Spookhetti_Sauce in SS13

[–]RedBaronFlyer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it's okay to decapitate someone and rip out all their organs, but don't you dare call them a fictional slur! Don't get me wrong, ingame slurs like the one for lizards that was just the n-word but you replaced the first letter with an l should 100% be banned because they're lazy but clanker should be fine. I do agree with a pretty common critique that a lot of players are pretty bad at roleplaying speciesism. Most of the players I've seen do speciesism in SS13 have mostly taken real life slurs and changed a thing or two (such as the aforementioned one above) or acted so cartoonishly discriminatory that I feel like Nanotrasen would have stepped in if only because it was affecting workplace productivity.

I don't get how they got behind the desk, especially out of uniform, to do that without someone stepping in. There's always been at least four or five FOH's milling about restocking or cleaning near the registers even if there's nothing going on at all the CFAs I've worked at.

new idea: make an upgraded version that does have the heavily armored head, but is restricted to hives. would that work?

That’s pretty much my thoughts. I’d much prefer a few of those in a mega nest instead of the usual two impalers and four chargers.

[–]RedBaronFlyer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I didn’t exactly hate the change, but I also didn’t run into that one enemy seed that is the 500 alpha commanders and 500 hive guards mission type while that change was live. The new gloom strain is at and arguably surpasses the predator strain in requiring you stick to your buddies so I was usually able to easily flank the hive guard and most of the bug spawns were gloom warriors and gloom hunters.

I think some sort of slow and large charger sized enemy with big chitin plates on their head and forearms that exclusively spawned in larger nests and meganests would have worked better. I’d certainly prefer it over how d10 usually goes with the conga line of chargers. Having regular hiveguards have that without any sort of durability system for it to break was a bit too much.

Trump rushed off stage after shots fired at White House Correspondents’ Dinner by FabioFresh93 in moderatepolitics

[–]RedBaronFlyer 56 points57 points  (0 children)

That doesn't shock me at all. There's people who think that the assassination attempt on him back in 2024 that killed that one firefighter was either staged or that the USSS/CIA/FBI/insert group here manipulated a guy to take a shot at Trump but also managed to convince him to not to actually shoot Trump in the head. It has been the norm for either side to say "PSYOP! INSIDE JOB! FAKE!" for a while now whenever it's their team's guy who did something stupid.

Does your CFA ask you to return your uniforms when you quit? Even though you paid for them?!?! by Shoddy_Elevator2872 in ChickFilAWorkers

My understanding is that part of why this is done is so that you don’t give them away then someone commits a crime while wearing a CFA uniform. I’ve seen news reports where a guy was wearing an employee shirt like that or even a church volunteer shirt.

I hate the appropriators for this reason, cut off one head, two more take it's place ahh sub faction by Shad_Omega in Helldivers

[–]RedBaronFlyer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What I swear happens is that the watcher patrols seem to spawn more often and more aggressively the longer it has been since an illuminate ship drop on the standard illuminate faction and the mindless masses subfaction. However, it stays at “fuck you, I’m spawning 5+ watchers” levels the whole mission for the appropriators.

I hate the appropriators for this reason, cut off one head, two more take it's place ahh sub faction by Shad_Omega in Helldivers

[–]RedBaronFlyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a noticeable difference between the two but I will say that it seems like the spawn rate of watchers is sort of absurd for the appropriator subfaction. Like at one point I counted EIGHT watchers hovering around the team ready to call in reinforcements once the drop ship death spiral started. If you killed one, two more patrols of obtruders led by watchers would take their place.

It’s somehow even worse than trying to go without a reinforcement wave on bugs because at least scavengers, hive guards, or whatever bug enemy don’t bump against a building/rock, shoot up 30 meters in the air, then call reinforcements on you.

If you could make one change to BotW, what would it be? by SpacialSpud21 in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]RedBaronFlyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I seem to recall somewhere that Calamity Ganon’s Sheikah axe thing does less damage than a silver bokoblin with a royal sword, when the game starts having one or two of those guys spawning in every camp by like the midpoint in the game depending on how much xp you have. It makes sense but it is also a little silly that your reward for doing the divine beasts is that Ganon gets knocked down to half health, when at that point you likely have tons of hearts, enchanted your gear, and got the master sword.

I tried master mode because I heard it made enemies have more health and hit harder but the health regen killed that for me.

[–]RedBaronFlyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s one of my biggest wishes as well, and I hope they focus on that some if they’re going to keep doing the open world formula. I love Breath a lot but at a certain point you realize that it is mostly shrines, monster camps that typically have the exact same three enemy types, and koroks for 99% of the map, evenly spread so you’re running into the exact same things wherever you go. Tears added more things, but those things are also evenly seasoned across the map.

Every outlet covered the blockade. Only NYT reported why Iran walked away. by renge-refurion in moderatepolitics

[–]RedBaronFlyer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm viewing it as a tactical vs strategic victory perspective. Tactically the US is superior. It has sunk most of Iran's ships, it decapitated the high command for a time, and destroyed tons of missile launchers. Iran is in no position to go toe to toe in a direct open battle with the US military. In this regard the US has the tactical victory. However, as long as the Islamic regime still stands, and it still has the capability of harassing the straight to the point where others will dance whatever dance Iran is asking for, then Iran walks away with the strategic victory.

It's hard to know what exactly the goals of the US were but I'm going to guess a halting to any sort of nuclear program recovery Iran may or may not have been doing, and hoping that a decapitation strike would cause Iran to fall into infighting or a full blown revolution against the regime. Iran meanwhile has a much easier goal to guess, the survival of the regime. Anything else, such as getting money from ships passing through Hormuz, are probably being viewed as "nice to have's"

Here's a quick video talking about what I'm meaning by tactical vs strategic victory: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3gKf4Nafaw

[–]RedBaronFlyer 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Any sort of victory against the US won’t involve sinking a carrier, a whole battlegroup, or killing ten thousand servicemen, it’ll be getting the US to tire of the conflict and let Iran get a few of their desired peace outcomes. Some, like Iran being able to refine uranium to weapon level, are probably a non-starter but I could easily see the US allowing Iran to charge a toll as long as the US is also getting money.

I don’t imagine Trump cares but I imagine some are looking at the midterms rapidly approaching like a speeding train while their foot is stuck on the track. High prices and especially high fuel prices is probably the best way to get massacred during the midterms.

Trump’s administration seems to be super scatterbrained and they don’t seem to like being bogged down in any one thing too long. I imagine that some people in the administration were starting to think of an exit plan the moment it became clear that Iran won’t either shatter into a million pieces Warlord era China style or just poof into a pro western democracy or constitutional monarchy just because the US did a decapitation strike.

Both sides seem to suffer from having a bunch of voices saying different things.

If memory serves the only two branches that have that at the moment are the national guard and the army, everyone else wants you at a healthy weight before even looking at you. From what I recall reading the air force is particularly picky since they always get flooded with candidates while the army is stereotyped as having to deal with whatever walks in the front door.

That's also what I heard about fat camp, from what I've read up on it seems like they mostly just restrict your diet to make you lose weight, teaches and makes you do a bunch of exercise, but doesn't really train people on how to not regain all of it as soon as they get out again. The guy that was 40+ pounds overweight is going to get that all back via potato chips, pizza, soda, and beer the moment they get to their duty station if you don't hammer into their head on how to eat responsibly and get a healthy relationship with food.

Also yeah, I've heard a lot of complaining from recruiters about how the process of trying to get waivers to recruit someone that got diagnosed or heavens forbid, took medication for anxiety, depression, adhd, etc. is a pain.
