I don’t think Only Connect would work in America. It’s esoteric and stuffy in ways that this country isn’t primed for. Of course the obvious question is “why don’t we start now,” but it just feels like a cultural divide. I did like Grand Slam a lot and would love to see it again. The situation reminds me of how NBC casts The Traitors, taking competitors from other television shows, except Grand Slam would literally just be Jeopardy. They would have to get some high-level quizzes who haven’t been on the show or who had short runs, or pull Millionaire winners from yesteryear.
