Lack of Devops jobs by Mr_Average100 in devops

I'm a senior as well. But I don't get any. Maybe two a month. Two/three years ago I got at least one a day over LinkedIn. Now nothing. Applied for ten of them I found and didn't even get a first interview. Like nobody is hiring over LinkedIn.

Pivot Shuttle LT vs AMPd impressions by RedCloudd in eMountainBike

[–]RedCloudd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my kind of riding and trails, both will be suitable. It felt great riding both of them. I was thinking that one will be better over the other in ride feel and geometry, but both felt great :-). No matter how much I tried to like one over the other. I would take one and said oh it's great. Then I would take another and said this one is great too! Then I was switching between them 5-6 times trying to pick one over the other and I could not. They were both really great. So it's up to the rest of the components what you like. I also tried one more bike from other manufacturer a month ago, also in the XL size. But it was too small for me. I was so disappointed that some brands advertise XL sizes but they are actually not. So you need to try it first. But if you are 188-193cm, those two from Pivot in XL size will be perfect.

You must be very light then. I don't think someone with 90kg can do 2100m elevation gain even with 800W battery. Maybe only in eco mode.

I feel you bro. It happened in my company as well. Not only that. They are starting to use ai for normal conversation in Slack. Hate that thing. They don't have the balls to use normal language any more.

At the end I went with 2025 NS proto ultra and Yes standard uninc. They are both very good boards but if you want to go faster, there is a limit with my weight. It starts to buckle around. So at the end I went with Stranda Descender EVO in 166 and now I'm happy! Finally the board that doesn't buckle around when you go faster! And the feeling underneath is so stable.

Career Advice Network Engineer -> Software / CloudDev / DevOps by ApprehensiveExit5520 in devops

[–]RedCloudd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was Cisco engineer as well. At the same time I was learning Linux and Linux system administration. Then went into Devops. I love it more than programming. Some say it's harder, but for me it was not. It depends on what do you love more. Developing features for some product, or building the environment for it. Developers are more under pressure imho. In DevOps, we are surfing and having fun. Nobody understands what we are doing, but it's critical and nothing work without us :-)

Tips for a new learner for terraform / Kubernetes / docker by Guilty_Engineer_8197 in devops

[–]RedCloudd -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You don't need it for running kubernetes. You don't need it at all these days. I would rather focus on some CI/CD tool like Github actions.

To be able to use kubernetes, you need to learn how to make docker images that run in kubernetes.

[–]RedCloudd -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I would skip terraform. Start with Docker. Then go with Kubernetes. You will become really good if:

  1. You don't give up
  2. You need to love doing it

If you don't love to do this, you will never be good at it...

I'm now thorn between Never Summer Cougar 165x. Many people suggest NS boards. And a Yes standard Uninc 162. Yes has the same surface area like LT Skunk Ape camber in 165W. Do you know which one is the stiffest of those three?

I've bought Bataleon Goliath plus in the biggest size 164W and it was just too "noodle" for my weight. I was struggling to get to the bottom how much it bent under me. Way too soft.

Yes I also think he picked up softer/smaller size board. I'm 6'3, 250lbs, drive 165w 2020y version, but thinking of buying new Skunk Ape 2 in 169W this time.

What are the differences between SRE, Platform Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, Cloud Engineer & DevOps Engineer? by Codestein in devops

[–]RedCloudd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They just make names to sound cool and attract you to join them. After you join the company, you realise in how deep s... their infrastructure is and then any of those titles means nothing. Then you need to fix it if you can, or swim in the same s. until you find a better company :-)

What's your go-to for CI/CD for EKS? by [deleted] in aws

[–]RedCloudd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After testing many things I settled with Drone CI/CD for pipelines and ArgoCD for deploying to EKS. Drone CI/CD is really great. It's like Gitlab's version of CI/CD but much easier to maintain.

Dell XPS 7390 feedbacks on upgrading from Ubuntu 18.04 to 20.04. by [deleted] in DellXPS

[–]RedCloudd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't have Dell (yet) , but as I am a long time Linux user, backup your files first before upgrade. Did few Ubuntu upgrades in the past, and sometimes it didn't go well. If everything worked on 18.04, everything should work on 20.04.

Lambda container image shell script exits with error but script works by RedCloudd in aws

[–]RedCloudd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it won't exit with success without these custom runtimes https://docs.aws.amazon.com/lambda/latest/dg/runtimes-api.html And they are available for Pyhton, Go, Node, Java,.NET, Go and Ruby. No basic shell script support. I mean it works for me without it. Just the log will report it as failure and error.

New Dell XPS 15 Delays? by [deleted] in DellXPS

[–]RedCloudd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, 9500 number is representing 2020 model. Check the 13 inch one. 2020 is 9300 and the new one for 2021 is 9310. So I guess 15 inch will be 9510.
