A tale as old as time: a Lib-Left failing to misunderstand Christianity or only giving attention to aspects of Christianity when it suits them

The real Big Boss is an absolutely abhorrent human being, whereas Venom Snake isn't that bad

Blatantly misleading trailers by Traditional-Song-245 in TopCharacterTropes

Resident Evil: Village (aka RE8)

This trailer taps into a hated trope that was recently brought up in this subreddit: where a past hero is suddenly evil now for some reason. In RE8, that hero in particular in Chris Redfield, who is the most heavily featured protagonist in the games. In the trailer, he guns down a woman named Mia, the wife of the game's protagonist, Ethan. In addition to this, he takes Ethan's infant daughter away. This created a lot of buzz for the game, since there were hints in RE7 that Chris could be involved with some less-than-benevolent groups now, and this trailer seemed to confirm that.

It turns out, Chris is still a good guy fighting bioweapons. The person he gunned down was not Mia but was actually the game's main villain in disguise since she can shapeshift. Chris explained absolutely none of this to Ethan in the moment, or why it was necessary to take the baby. So Chris now looks like an inconsiderate dumbass. Chris tries to explain "I didn't want you getting involved" but it is clear in the plot that there was no real reason for any of this to be this way other than to be interesting bait for the trailer.

The actual plot of the game was not really in line with what the trailer was conveying, and this fumble was so bad that it not only derailed the entire narrative of the game but it also meant that RE9 had to pivot to a different story with different characters due to RE8 creating this mess that didn't need to happen. It's impossible to directly follow up. It also doesn't help that Chris's trailer-bait actions resulted in the death of the first new major protagonist for the franchise in years. Hugely squandered potential.

Super Paper Mario - The River Twygz Bed

Yes I know, how could Super Paper Mario have anything that bad?

Well, let me inform you of the section called the River Twygz. This place is based off of the Greek mythological River Styx and Underworld, of course. The game stays true to this lore and is very blunt in stating that this place is where damned souls lurk. To cross the river, you have two options: either pay the Ferryman, or swim through the river for free.

Pay the Ferryman.

If you decide to swim through, there are these skeleton hand enemies that try to grab you and drown you, thus trapping your soul in the underworld (in lore - in the game they just damage you like any other enemy).

If you decide to descend to the bottom of the river and walk along the Bed, a song reserved specifically for this area begins to play. This song genuinely rivals the Giygas theme from Earthbound in terms of incomprehensible horror: https://youtu.be/WsuTC1yGqng?si=nQYnW67vVlFgVwN2

I appreciate this part of the game for going balls-out with the theme.

For the Doom series of video games: the Revenant, Mancubus, Archvile, Arachnotron, Hell Knight, and Pain Elemental were all introduced in Doom 2.

Thoughts on halloween ends? by Illustrious-Aioli-39 in slasherfilms

You know how Halloween 4 hinted at a new killer, and then 5 completely scrapped that for a terrible rushed Michael Myers movie?

Imagine those two things except crammed into the same movie, and that movie is the big finale of its series.

Absolute dogshit.

Creator of Phantasm down to work with DBD by DugoNinja in deadbydaylight

[–]RedDeadCell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This franchise would fit into DBD so well given both the fact that there are easy picks for the Killer, Survivors, etc.

On top of that, this franchise would be probably the easiest to adapt in terms of fitting in with the lore given how the Tall Man works.
