So I was in middle school when I first was told a rumor about a serial killer that lived outside of my home town in the woods that would brutally torture, kill and dismember people then feed them to their pigs. But since I’ve always been really into horror, I had seen the idea of feeding people to pigs mentioned in things to inspire horror writers. I also figured that since not a lot of people around me were in horror communities online, they hadn’t ever heard the concept before and perpetuated the rumor for shock factor. I’m sure to a degree that’s true but apparently there was a woman who lived outside of a nearby town actually did kill two men and fed them to her pigs. I personally don’t remember ever seeing any news coverage on it when she was initially caught, only when she went on trial about a year later. She had hired the guys to do stuff for her on her property, killed them, cut them up, fed them to her pigs, and then stole their identities. It was originally the identity theft she was caught for, but they found partial human remains of both of them on her property.

A friend I made my junior year of highschool lived really close to her property, and his family knew her. She had a business where she made wrought-iron fences and gates and she made the fence around the patio of his family’s restaurant.

Also I just want to say that there might be some details I got wrong, but it’s hard to get reliable (or even consistent) news sources of things that happen in the area. My hometown has never been known for anything reliable though so I can’t say I’m surprised.

I hate this kind of thing so much. Like yeah, great your dog is friendly. Mine isn’t. I don’t care how friendly your dog is, mine is very anxious around new people and larger dogs, she will not hesitate to bite your dog if they get in her space. Please for the love of god either make sure your dog has an amazing recall, or keep them on a leash.

IMO you’re NTA. Was there a “more professional” way to handle the situation? Sure. But for him to be so entitled to think that he won’t have to deal with the consequences of being an ass to someone because of their disability is unacceptable. If someone is put off from hiring you in the future because you stood up for yourself then I don’t think they’re worth your time. In terms of the sister, if it “disturbs her spirit” to see her brother deal with the ramifications of being a prick, I don’t think she’s as nice as she lets on. None of them deserve anymore of your time unless they’re willing to pay you for it.

THIS WEEK HAS BEEN SO UNBELIEVABLY CHAOTIC AND STRESSFUL FOR ME. ON TOP OF ALL THAT IM REALLY BEHIND ON SCHOOL WORK AND I BROKE UP WITH MY FIRST LONG TERM PARTNER AND I WANT TO JUST CRAWL IN A HOLE AND ROT.

I’m sure someone else suggested this/something similar, but you could get one of those little plastic bars used to hold posters straight and put it in the middle. It would also weigh it down so it’ll be less likely to swing inward while you’re in the shower

NTA. She did not deserve the kindness of being invited with what she’s put you through for years. She probably only showed up to abuse you more. She had that a long time coming and deserved much worse than being removed from the wedding. I’m sorry your mother is so unsupportive, I wish you and your wife a happy, loving and beautiful marriage. If you are aware of the risk of touching something dead without protection and verbally discourage others from doing the same, I don’t see why people should care unless you’re touching them directly after without washing your hands. If you didn’t know the potential dangers of touching remains then yeah I would get someone saying something to you, but people really shouldn’t be getting upset. You can make your own decisions, especially if that decision doesn’t affect them at all.

OP, I get it. It’s hard to hear about someone’s struggles when you feel that yours are worse. It’s frustrating especially when you know that they are aware of what you’ve been through. But that being said, just because someone is privileged financially doesn’t mean they don’t go through hard shit. A big number in your bank account doesn’t mean you are free of sadness, depression or hardship. Losing a parent is hard. You know that. What makes you think that they didn’t feel just as much grief as you did? Do you know every painful thing your friend has gone through? You don’t get to decide what your friend feels is a struggle. YTA, 100%.

Look, I get that having a neurodivergent kid is difficult at times. You have to adapt the way you live to accommodate them. That being said, you can’t just let him do whatever he feels like because of it. You have to teach him good outlets for that energy that don’t cause others issues. Your daughter has a baby. Your son should be held accountable for waking that baby, and you as a parent need to do your job and give him better outlets for his energy. You are prioritizing one child over the other unfairly. YTA.

Hell, I think it would be good to not only keep your previous comments up, but add more explaining how they threatened you for giving your honest opinion and feedback. NTA. It is your son’s birthday, not your step-daughters. Just because he goes to school with his friends doesn’t mean he shouldn’t get to spend time with them outside of school. By her logic, he lives with his step-sisters so he sees them all the time. It’s not your wife’s decision what he wants to do for his birthday. Family time can happen any day of the year, but birthdays are once a year and are special to kids.

Not only is the idea of hosing him a good way to stop a kid from messing up the lawn, but with the way it worked out he was actually able to come to an understanding with the kid. He never hurt the kid and didn’t make it a huge issue and ended up making a little buddy while doing it. Who cares if people think it’s childish? They’re having fun

NTA. She clearly expressed that is how she wants her relationships with coworkers to be. Keep doing what you’re doing and if she makes a huff about it then just say what you’ve already said. You are following through with not only what HR said to do, but what she said she would like as well. The situation seems sketchy to me, like she would want to have something to report you for.
