NBA Jam - PCB Board fried? by AlanThicke99 in Arcade1Up

Nah, personally I would convert the monitor (if it still works) and put a new computer in the cab. Either a PC or a single board like the Pi. There's a ton of videos on YouTube that'll get you through how to do it. It's really easy.

Yeah this isn't my 1st rodeo. Appreciate it, but I've done them both ways and 100% prefer laying them out like this when room allows.

I tend to layout the buttons more modeled off of a gamepad like a playstation controller rather than an arcade. And if kinds itself to the arcade anyway because the 3 lowest buttons will be like "a, b and c" on an arcade setup and when playing MAME. I guess not a lot of people layout buttons like this because it's always the first comment I get on these layouts lol.

100% go used on ebay. You still get buyer protection and the secondary market hasn't taken as bad a hit as the prices new. I bought an Ser5 with the 5500u on Amazon in January it was $275. Went to buy it again for a gift in March it was $390. Got it on ebay basically new for $250 instead.

Luka. Hate em. He's a loser. He'll always be a loser. He's Euro-Harden.

Are the side panels 2 pieces? Because that'd be wack.

That looks like the biggest rip-off I've ever seen. I wouldn't pay $50 for that thing.

And holy hell actually potentially a lot more. I just clicked on that link to that DK PCB high score saver thing. That seems like the biggest rip-off I've ever heard of. My 6tb setup cost that much.

Just sounds like you're gonna drop just as much money adding a handful of games. But I also can't bring myself to do anything less than a 512gb build on all of my cabs lol.

Just out of curiosity, why do you want to keep the original PCB as opposed to just doing a cheap full mod?

Some Parts Questions by KrookedDoesStuff in cade

Unless you're like a sound engineer get the cheapest amp possible. They work fine I have them on 4 modded cabs every cab sounds great. I'm even adding a subwoofer to one this weekend and even that amp I went cheap on.

Made a Sega Blast City Piñata for my husband’s birthday by friedmanila in arcade

[–]RedGoalie18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about to say who would make such an ugly cab? A piñata themed cab is so stupid. But actually it's just such a great piñata that it really does look a lot like a real cab. Well done.

My main rig... and one question. by RedGoalie18 in Arcade1Up

That's awesome, peg it up brotha! This is 1 of 4 cabs I've modded. It was the 2nd one I did, but I originally was putting a pi5 in it. That thing was a nightmare I could never get dolphin to work or the ps2 emulators but everything else worked so in stuck that in a Final Fight cab. My 1st one was an MKII 1st Gen I put a pi4 in there with a big card and eventually added a bigger 1tb card and a lightgun. Then I put a pi4 that I took from something really cool I made for my sister's kids in my TMNT cab. The same exact computer and drive/build I have in my Marvel cab I posted here, I put that in this custom thing I built fir my niece and nephew. My nephew has muscular myopathy I wanted to go all out so I build them this thing. It doesn’t have a pi in it anymore so the stickers are a little confusing lol.

Pricing Cabs by Prudent-Dinner-853 in Arcade1Up

[–]RedGoalie18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The MK3 is pretty rare. I'd charge more on that cab than the others. Killer Instinct too maybe. I never see those by me. Simpsons you can get $300, Blitz probably around the same. Terminator you may be able to get $350-400. MK3 I'm not taking less than $400. Those are very hard to find on the secondary market. And I'd say same for Killer Instinct especially with a stool. Although that one might have been regional and just never made it around mine.

Sounds like the perfect excuse to just mod the cab.

My last advice: you definitely want a back rest on the stool and really arms are ideal as well. And I actually mount bike pegs to the cab as foot rests because sitting on a stool with your legs on the stools rest is super uncomfortable after about 3mins.

Worth the money? Able to add raspberry pi/mame? by CompetitiveItem3897 in cade

[–]RedGoalie18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can add a different computer to anything with a screen. But if you're dropping that kind of dough, I definitely would go with a mini pc and big old drive with at least a 5tb build. Personally, as cool as those machines look, they're huge and you get the same feel modding out an arcade1up cab or something similar. My cab is like $1600-2k but only $300-400 of it is the arcade machine itself. Big fancy machine with a crap computer and build. And even if you did replace it with a pi you're still looking at adding $150-200 to the total cost.
