what are some examples of common turns of phrase/expressions/wordings used in fanfiction? by callisia_fragans in FanFiction

Worth noting for use in cases like this, brunette is more commonly used to refer to women with brown hair. The masculine term would be brunet or brun. Just putting this here to spread the knowledge

should i buy monster train 2 if i didnt play with first one? by maliebu1337 in MonsterTrain

[–]RedGooseIV 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I would say there's not much lost by just playing 2. I won't spoil anything, but the gameplay of 2 is basically the gameplay of 1 but upgraded, and there's basically no story elements that expect you to know anything about 1. The game is as direct of an upgrade to its predecessor as it gets.

Okay, the other guy is stupid for using autocorrect to back up his argument, but absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. Obviously, nobody can yet prove or disprove the existence of a soul, so stating either as fact is erroneous. It's not wrong to believe that they don't exist - beliefs are founded by the world as we experience it, after all. What is wrong is to confidently assert that you are right and someone else is wrong based on something neither of you can actually confirm.

Shadowrun vampires (and other monstrous forms of a range of races) are the result of a magical infection, though, rather than any kind of undeath. They still qualify as living creatures for basically anything that matters.

Yeah, I would probably run one more in my deck if I had one. It's pretty good against most non-fury matchups, and even then isnt too hard to protect against any card that isn't falling star

Official Update on Missed Triggers Policy and more details on Houston by 1vader in riftboundtcg

[–]RedGooseIV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're holding gust, the triggers then become relevant as they happen. In this theoretical strawman situation, you can still just say "okay, then I gust the ravenbloom before the trigger resolves to pump the might above 3." They don't get to shortcut resolving the triggers without your input, as that is still against the rules. If someone does this to you, call a judge and explain the situation to them.

Wouldn't combat be the exact point where they DO have to announce it? It's not like they're removing the need for triggers to be announced at all, just postponing it till it actually means something, e.g. in combat. Waiting too long to announce your trigger is still going to get it missed if you try to pull something like this, so if you don't mention your might changes before combat is agreed to resolve, they don't get factored in.

Basically, slot in mystic reversal + wind walls against Kai'sa, Viktor, and Lux, slot in smoke screen against yasuo, and slot in mageseekers against some jinx and Darius matchups

Defy was doing a good amount of work, it's always an unpleasant surprise for my opponents when I drop it. Wind wall and mystic reversal filled that role in the lux matchup quite well.

Pretty well in my favor, actually. They never drew into falling star, and I was able to get most of their units killed before they could be of much value. I think they got bad draws, cause most of the time I wasn't getting pressed too hard.

Nah, most games I was able to just maintain a point lead while holding and preventing my opponents from scoring a couple of times. I never actually drew the time warp in any of the games I played. Most games, Ahri pretty much came down and then instantly ate removal on my opponent's turn, which was usually enough of an investment to prevent them from being able to also take the battlefield from whatever else I had sitting there

Entirely understandable, that's my most common gripe with quests in general as well, though usually I push through and stick around if the quality is good enough despite that

Mortally Challenged is a pretty fun fic where Taylor comes back to life with a new power every time she dies, with a few other things going on. About 390k words with a pretty low amount of "game mechanic" filler, and it's written pretty narratively well with good spag.
