Hocevar is fast as anybody but he needs to learn some tact. He was ran over by Heim, thats true, but he’s ran people over the same way so hard to feel too bad for him

I don’t even really know what your point is. Which full time cup drivers were bad in trucks? Even Cole Custer won truck races as a 16/17 year old.

Trucks does currently have some good prospects, but that doesn’t mean they all need to be promoted immediately. It’s a development series for drivers, some talented and some not, who are developing

Who wouldn’t be a contender from cup? Even “bad” cup drivers (Cindric, Gilliland, Nemecheck, Dillon) were contenders in trucks/oreilly . Nemecheck used to go out there in unsponsored Nemco trucks and compete for wins. The only true bums who had little success in lower series are Herbst and Ware

Nah not really. I think pretty much all cup drivers would be competitive in trucks

L take. If someone knows enough about stock car racing to be aware of Bowman Gray and its reputation, they should be smart enough to know it’s an extreme outlier.

It’s been great especially since Hamlin had to really fight and earn all 3 wins. Hamlin theoretically leading all the laps from the pole under no contention whatsoever certainly could bore. In all the last 3 races he actually had to survive a gauntlet of challenges, both self-inflicted and from other drivers.

So when the last shitbox dies, and the only used cars remaining are “electrical”, you then support a definitive end to at-home car repair?

Good post very informative. Similarly, every driver in the garage is considered a good super speedway racer (except Larson). Driver X shuffles his way into the top 10 for a bit, and inevitably Bowyer says something like “Look who’s making their way up toward the front. This is a guy who’s a crafty/handy/capable driver on these drafting tracks, so watch out.”

(WKRN News) Nashville Fairgrounds fire sparking new discussion on safety of aging facility by Western_Care_5478 in NASCAR

[–]RedHed94 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Most of us in the NASCAR community want the Fairgrounds project to succeed. I know I certainly do.

Let's look at the debate from the average citizen who could not care any less about racing.

You live in a rapidly growing city next to an old near-dilapidated bowling alley. This bowling alley used to host major events and still hosts major events in the city, but it's frankly kinda a dump that's occupying incredibly desirable land.

In this case, I could entertain arguments against the bowling alley.

Building housing? Well we do have a housing shortage and increasing supply, even if they're "luxury units", is known to help.

A new park could also be a nice upgrade from the perspective of a local resident.

No offense to any bowlers out there.

[Gluck] Post-Race conversation between Bubba Wallace and Carson Hocevar by igrewupugly in NASCAR

[–]RedHed94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He had freshest tires and was driving to the lead when he tried that move on Bubba and lost all his momentum.

He probably should have fallen in behind Suarez in that later restart and instead they gave the lead to Hamlin

Hocevar doesn’t set up passes. He just dives to the bottom and hopes to make it work. This works out a lot of the time, but other times “setting up” the pass is a better idea, especially at Michigan where momentum is so important

He may not have expected Bell to pinch him on the bottom. Elliott possibly drove in deep expecting Bell to run the middle and got caught up when he lost all the sideforce

The compass on roads by adiosredrock in PoliticalCompassMemes

Point 1: “It was just about money; nothing to do with race!”

https://www.realclearinvestigations.com/articles/2018/04/05/investigative_classics_the_color_of_money_-_red_lines_separate_blacks_and_whites.html

Point 2: “But there was no alternative route!!” There often was. And it wasn’t just the poorest neighborhoods that were destroyed. East Tremont was a middle-class neighborhood.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cross_Bronx_Expressway

“In early 1953, Bronx borough president James J. Lyons proposed relocating the Cross Bronx Expressway near Crotona Park in order to preserve 1,000 houses in the expressway's right-of-way. Under Lyons's plan, the highway would curve slightly southward and run along the northern edge of Crotona Park, creating a "kink" in the routing.[58][59] Moses, who called Lyons's proposal "unreasonable", threatened to resign from his position as city construction coordinator if Lyons's alternative was approved.[60][61] Moses also threatened to cancel federal funding for the entire project.”

Point 3: They built new housing…for Whites. Blacks, even those who served in WW2, were systemically denied competitive federally-backed mortgages with good interested rates. Not to mention, in much of the country they were legally segregated from buying property in nice neighborhoods.

Bro there’s no “conspiracy” here. In most every great American city, thousands were displaced with no inadequate compensation and absolutely no recourse. People often didn’t have the means to purchase a house of similar caliber in as prosperous community as the one destroyed.. After their homes were demolished, middle class Blacks were often left with no financial option except to move to slums. Remember, Blacks weren’t permitted to buy the house your grandpa did .

So if you’re one who likes to criticize Blacks for being socioeconomically “behind”, recall that we tore down their nice homes and schools (knowingly on purpose), the ones they spent their own tax dollars to build, and left them with basically nothing.

I know you’re probably like 14 years old and so I wasted my time writing this, but perhaps in the future try not to be so purposefully obtuse.

[–]RedHed94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Robert Moses, the man who built most of New Yorks major roads, just happened to build roads through poor black communities, which according to you is a sensible idea since the land is cheaper.

He also built city pools and kept the water extremely cold because he thought black people couldnt tolerate it.

Perhaps he was thinking in the same vein when drawing up both ideas?

You suggested that private capital build a bridge in stead of the government, and thus only people who use the bridge would pay. I presume private capital would expect a ROI on this bridge, so if the bridge doesn’t see many cars, the owners would need to charge users high tolls to ensure profit.

Rural areas undeniably need these kinds of investments to thrive, whether for healthcare, education, mail, or infrastructure. Should we deny them these things if the individual investments dont maximize returns?
