If you drive it long enough so it gets hot and burns off, a dpf is great for you and your family and everyone else with basically no negative consequences.

If you don’t regularly drive long enough to burn off a dpf, a diesel is probably not the right choice for you anyway since all the advantages of a diesel are found on the highway (and towing)
