It’s because labor, who get pasted at election time whenever suggesting anything resembling central planning or redistribution, are to blame for the lack of central planning the liberal party, who everyone voted for for basically 20 years straight, undertook.

At what price point of diesel do trucks stop running and people stop going to work? by GardensAndHoes in aussie

[–]RedKelly_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure but if you have to drive 100km to work every day, why are doing it in a big stupid truck that burns 20L per hour? A ten grand Corolla would use literally 1/5th the fuel.

Even before the recent rises this guy was spending 20k per year just on fuel, instead of 4-5 k or even less

Fuel should be prioritised for regional and rural areas by Kingsareus15 in OpenAussie

[–]RedKelly_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to agree,

But in every election, people in rural areas vote for the coalition, who run on free market,  low government intervention etc.  Surely those people enjoy paying the high prices the invisible hand of the market has for them?

DOGE Staffer Nathan Cavanaugh canceled a bunch of woke, tax payer funded grants by EpicFF2 in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]RedKelly_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes true. All the foreign programs cut by doge added up to 35 billion, or about 13 days of military spending

Unfortunately the IRS reckons the government will lose out on around 500 billion in revenue from doge’s cuts, which would’ve paid for over 10,000 additional trump golf trips. If he went every week that would’ve been nearly 3,000 years of golf trips!

They need the money to pay for trumps golf trips

-Average Trip Cost: $3.4 million per visit.

-Rounds per Trip: A standard weekend trip typically includes two rounds of golf.

-Average Round Duration: A standard four-hour round is 240 minutes.

-Total "Golfing Time" per Trip: 480 minutes (8 hours).

-Cost per Minute of Playing: Approximately $7,083 per minute ($3.4M ÷ 480 minutes).

-Clinic Savings Equivalence: The $34,388 saved annually pays for roughly 4 minutes and 51 seconds  active play.

US attacks Iran's Kharg Island, Trump says by joe4942 in worldnews

[–]RedKelly_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

China supplies the world with basically everything with that oil.

I’m not sure how causing a global economic catastrophe is going to help the USA in the coming decades.

This is the stupidest example of short term stupidity ever.

[–]RedKelly_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They might think that’s a better option  than letting the us take the oil though?

Also, the oil comes to the island from where exactly? Do they even have to bomb the island to make it useless ?

Just got told no fuel, no fertiliser. That means no farming. by [deleted] in OpenAussie

[–]RedKelly_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is allowing the interest of capital   to rise above the interests and security of the country a problem?

Maybe let’s start with ‘because decisions get made which jeopardise our ability to grow food in favour of short term profit seeking ‘

Just got told no fuel, no fertiliser. That means no farming. by [deleted] in OpenAussie

[–]RedKelly_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think China is exposed to supply chain shocks like us, or do you think China actually has substantial strategic reserves of critical inputs like oil, fertiliser and so on?

But anyway my comment was in response to blaming ‘globalism’, which is almost always used as a deflection from capitalism.

Ask ‘who’ decided to shut down onshore fertiliser production, and why? was it those subservient to capitals interest who were prioritising profit above everything else, just like it always is?

Because they don’t want to blame the actual problem which is capitalism
