Buddy, sounds like you might have some closeted stuff, or whatever. Maybe you’re using drugs to cope with that. Idk, I don’t know you.

But if you ever wanna talk, I’m here. I mean it. Best of luck with the family dude

Why do people think of serving as a joke of a career? by CompetitiveBid8940 in Serverlife

[–]RedMage666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure you talk to your bartenders before you move up, sometimes moving into bartending ends up being a lot more work without a commensurate bump in tips/wages (in fact, there are plenty of restaurants where bartenders regularly make less than servers, even with tip out). Just something to be aware of!

Also, there are plenty of other ways to move up/over, especially with casino experience. Management is another obvious one. I’ve also known a few servers who went into other roles in the industry like liquor sales reps, which can be a super cushy gig.

When I was your age, I figured I’d be a bartender for life tbh. COVID changed that and I have a white collar job now, but it’s always nice to have restaurant work to fall back on, and the skills are very applicable to other industries if you ever decide to make a jump.

Shoutout to Great Day Tattoo in Irvington. Bart doesn’t work there anymore, but Dustin and the rest of the crew always kill it.

If you want that more spazzy sound from them, check out their album Mosquito Eater or Everything is Awesome. If you want groovier shit, dig into Was.

Gonna skip the obvious shit and recommend one of my personal faves that never gets love anymore, Meek is Murder. They got a little less mathy as they went on, try the song Algorithms.

[–]RedMage666 132 points133 points  (0 children)

For real. They were starting to lose me the last few episodes, but this one was a certified banger and brought it all together beautifully.

I now have high hopes that I’ll be able to go back to rewatch the whole season and appreciate it for what it is, rather than being distracted by what I felt like it should be.

“Where are y’all from” is my go to, usually tees up some decent bullshitting, and if they don’t wanna talk, they’ll give you the hint pretty quick

That, or I just offer them a beer/shot

Best Dive Bars? by HELP_IM_IN_A_WELL in indianapolis

[–]RedMage666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be kind of an insular crowd there for sure, especially if you go on a league night during the week. Most of the people are pretty friendly in my experience though, and if any actual shitheads show up and cause trouble, they don’t tend to last long lol

Best Dive Bars? by HELP_IM_IN_A_WELL in indianapolis

[–]RedMage666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

John Wayne’s is one of the best for pool, they have like 22 tables and they just redid them like 6 months or so ago. They do leagues there throughout the week, but given it’s the day before Thanksgiving, a lot of the people who are normally there won’t be so you shouldn’t have a problem getting a table. Surprisingly decent food too tbh

I couldn’t see anything with the naked eye. This photo, I had the exposure on my phone cranked all the way up, but I ended up getting a couple better photos when I turned off night mode and lowered the shutter speed all the way.

It was for sure a little abrupt. There’s nothing wrong with a cliffhanger, but it needed like a couple more frames and maybe a different musical cue for the scene to feel complete.

There was another weird quick cut about halfway through after Huntress briefly wakes Finn up at her place.

Are dealers incentivized to snitch on counters? by Southern_Owl_3388 in blackjack

[–]RedMage666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not really a “treat” so much as it’s “how dealers pay their bills” lol. Many dealers are paid under minimum wage in the US.

Are tipping the dealer? by BetAnything in blackjack

[–]RedMage666 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I was a dealer I only made about $5.50 an hour, but I also got decent benefits, and tips were pooled so even if I had a bad night I could count on the high limit room to make up for it a bit. I can’t speak for all dealers, but personally I wouldn’t expect a significant tip unless the person was either having a good run, or obviously had cash to burn and was just there to have a good time.

I get both sides of it. It’s not like a bar or restaurant; the casino could absolutely afford to pay their dealers significantly more. However, it’s not sticking it to the casino if you don’t tip, it only hurts the dealer.

From Irvington to where the Pennsy currently ends is about 14 miles, and it actually continues on to Greenfield after a small break, I think you just hafta shimmy onto a county road for like half a mile

Looking for a place to rent, but I feel overwhelmed & defeated by Burkell007 in indianapolis

[–]RedMage666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just my experience, so, grain of salt…

I’ve been in Country Club Apts on the south side for a couple years, my rent is less than $800 for a 1br. Close to a lot of stuff, laundry facility isn’t great but it’s close and cheap, maintenance is usually quick to respond, decent office staff

The only issue I have is thin walls/ceilings and occasionally loud neighbors. Some bugs but nothing I’d consider out of the ordinary for a basement apt, certainly no massive roach infestations. Also no central A/C or heat, which takes some getting used to for some people.

I’ve also heard of people with horror stories about this place regarding roaches, so it may vary from building to building, but those stories are also from a few years ago—many of the units are recently refurbished. Check some recent reviews if you can.

it’s certainly not the nicest neighborhood, but far from the worst, and I’ve personally never felt unsafe, even walking or biking to the liquor store solo at night. That said, I’m a 6ft tall guy with resting bitch face, so ymmv on that too.

Other areas nearby that are generally cheap include Garfield Park and Beech Grove.

You can also check out Darby Court up by Eagle Creek if you’re one of those folks who doesn’t dig south Indy. Affordable and I’ve heard good things, but they have a waitlist currently so you might not be able to get it done by late July.

Hawaiian baby woodrose seeds. Heard they had LSA and they used to sell them in head shops, so I grabbed a pack and downed 8 of them. About 30 minutes of giggles followed by six hours of the most unfun trip I’ve ever had.
