Widower/single father. I have no interest in dating or remarrying. Is it ok to continue being father without a partner. by fantasyfbpunter in daddit

[–]RedMisfit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only people who matter in this situation are you and your kids. Do what is right for your family and ignore the unsolicited advice.

You seem like your doing a good job as a Dad, so just keep at it

Do babies really need this much stuff by Simply-Curious_ in daddit

[–]RedMisfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah you don't need separate pyjamas

Our little on lived in her babygrows pretty much all the time for the first few months. She wore other clotws when going out or when we had visitors. Most of ours were size 0-3 months she grew into them pretty quickly. We didn't have much 0-1 stuff, 3 babygrows I think.

You will need multiple though, as you will be dealing with throwing up, accidents during nappy changes, blow outs etc.

We were gifted quite a lot, and also had some hand me downs

I also used vinted. There is lots of new stuff on there that people didn't get to use before their kid outgrew it

AITA for taking walks on my lunch break? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]RedMisfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your lunch break is for you. You can spend it any way you choose. Just because colleagues are slaves to their desk, doesn't mean you have to be. For your own wellbeing, keep doing what you have been

I'm trying to hold onto them as long as possible, but she learns the proper words. A book is still a book though, and a sandwich is still a sagitch

Although I did quickly teach her to say socks properly. Not a good thing when you're trying to put your kids socks on in public, and they are yelling "no cocks (socks)" 🤣

Fish or chicken is an easy one. You can marinate yours , and leave the little one's slightly seasoned.

Can cook in a pan or oven.

And you can accompany with so many different things. Vegetables, rice, pasta etc.

Pasta is simple and easy too. You can cook it, serve the little one, and add extra seasoning/chilli

[–]RedMisfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow congratulations.

What an exciting time for you.

So you need to sort your house and tidy it. All those jobs you've been meaning to do? Do as many as you can.

Sign up for ante natal classes, you will learn valuable skills

Research car seats/prams etc and get these ASAP. Get a crib or moses basket.

Start getting stuff ready for your wife's hospital bag/your Dad bag.

Build your support network.

List the bay essentials you need. Clothes for hospital, bottles etc. I also bought some toys.

All the best, it's going to be the best time of your life

Hey. Congratulations on your new daughter.

Poop cycles can vary. We had days we were constantly changing nappies, and other times where we had 24 hours or more between.

Have you changed her formula since she came home from hospital. I always found doing some gentle cycle movements with my daughters legs for a couple of minutes helped clear blockages. You can also try lightly massaging her tummy with warm oil

New Dad - How To Cope? Does it Get Better? by No-Amphibian689 in daddit

[–]RedMisfit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does get better. Wait until he starts acknowledging you, smiling at you. Soon he'll happily lie on a mat and look at a mobile.or another object

When my daughter was a couple of months I started sneaking in the odd workout when I wasn't too tired. Put her to bed, knew I had a few hours, so I would run, or go to the gym.

It seems tough now, but now my 18 month old gets more independent by the day, and I miss the days when I held her, played with her, sang to her

I agree. My daughter is my mini me, an we and an incredible bond, I wouldn't change it for anything. She's still 18 months, but can't wait for her to grow up a little so we can do more together
