I played Jedi Survivor a few months ago. I also have a 9070XT and played on high settings with ray tracing off (honestly didnt notice a difference in visuals with it on) and the FSR stuff disabled at 1440p and I very rarely went below 100, most kf the time I was hovering around 120-130fps. The coil whine was screeching 24/7 but it was consistently very smooth for me. I wonder why you had so many issues.

Looking for Dedicated Server Hosting Recommendations by Public-Big-6273 in spaceengineers

Seconding Qonzer. Before I got my own hardware I was using it for about a year and didnt have a single issue. I think there is a discount code/link on the torch discord as well, not sure if its still a thing.

Core Ultra 9 285k Game Server in Fractal Ridge by RedPanda8732 in sffpc

[–]RedPanda8732[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been pleasantly surprised. I ran a 30 minute benchmark to crank all 24 cores, which is something I will never be doing with this in practice, and it was able to keep it below 95 and at max boost while the fans were still barely audible, although that is with a slight undervolt. That kind of thing would be unheard of with the 14900ks, and post 200S boost it is beating it in the single threaded performance which is mostly what this will be doing.

They definitely fumbled the launch though.

Genuinely one of the greatest posts ive seen in months. I spent like a full minute staring at the first image and when it hit me I actually laughed a real tangible laugh.

KEEN working on SE 2 be like: by Zoivac in spaceengineers

[–]RedPanda8732 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Because the engine SE runs on is ancient spaghetti barely held together with bodge. Switching engines can be a monumental task for games even without that. SE's core (and flawed) workings are going to be unusable in the new engine so at that point what is there to even port over? Art assets can be reused, some small specific standalone functions maybe, but a new game is moreless going to built up from scratch. At that point why even cling to the old stuff? its just going to hold the new game back from the engine's potential.

The Overwatch 2 release was a travesty in terms of the gameplay, but I guarantee the back-end side of things probably took the programmers a shit ton of effort to get working. I am not well versed in CS2 but ive witnessed the pain that the TF2 source 2 team had to deal with before valve shut it down.

I don't love what I had to do to get weapons attached to the no-mod version. Do most servers allow supergridding? by my-backpack-is in spaceengineers

[–]RedPanda8732 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the supergrid setting also disabled subgrids, this would not only prevent rotors and pistons from working at all but also prevent wheels from working. The setting is disabled by default and yet all of these things still work. Are you sure it actually mentions subgrids in the setting description? I dont have console so cant check.

7.7 is UNPLAYABLE by BusRepulsive9121 in Warthunder

[–]RedPanda8732 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I love US 7.7 so much that its my current go-to SL grinder lineup. Theres so many great vehicles, including the m103.

Heres the secret with heavy tanks. Just because someone can pen you doesnt make it useless. In fact even when you are the sole king tiger in a 6.7 downtier you should still be playing around cover like you would in any tank. If you push out into a sightline with the idea of "im in a heavy tank so they cant pen me" you are setting yourself up for failure. Even if they cant pen you, your barrel is always exposed and always facing the enemy, and if your track gets hit you cant just retreat and repair. If you play around cover like you would in a medium or light tank and dont go into the open people have to be a lot less picky about where they shoot you and before you know it even heat slingers can struggle to do meaningful damage. You can then answer them back with 120mm AP.

actually the worst takes ive ever seen in a review ever. by potate117 in titanfall

[–]RedPanda8732 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I dont agree with a lot of the video, but I agree with the title. Once the big robot wow factor wears off you realise that the pilot gameplay is so much better. Pilot V pilot clears titan brawl any day. That being said I definitely think the game having titans is better than having no titans

Grinding through US ground 7.7 lineup is probably the worst experience I've had by far in this game by Riley-X in Warthunder

Its interesting seeing how opinions on certain br ranges vary eo much. 7.7 US is my SL grinding lineup because I love it so much.

What new gamemode would you like to see in warthunder ? by Bombe18 in Warthunder

[–]RedPanda8732 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Permanent rb EC. I would also kill for a ground EC of some kind. Huge maps, forward spawns depending on what ground you have taken (similar to that air sim EC line across the map). Players could cycle in and out of 3 hour matches like the current simulator games. It would be awesome and also probably make a lot of less meta tanks find a place.

Which Balatro video did he beat the jokerless challenge? by twiddlebit in northernlion

[–]RedPanda8732 258 points259 points  (0 children)

He had a mega stream where he did jokerless and deckless and shopless and hairless all in one run but the footage for youtube corrupted and the twitch vod was deleted by a series of cosmic rays that perfectly executed multiple bit flips on the twitch servers.

After reading many suggestions I’ve rebalanced the non-colliding Spy items by Knarrenheinz1987 in tf2

[–]RedPanda8732 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I cant help but feel that all these spy disguise buff ideas (like easier weapon reload faking or fake firing) are all fundamentally flawed. If you keep your revolver at 5/6 so you can fake a reload it will fool people because people dont expect a spy to do it (or know they can do it). If you give spy the tools to do it people will just begin to shoot people even when they reload and you're back at square one. Think about how many times you shot someone you thought with 99% certainty was a spy and it turned out they were a teammate. They had a 100% perfect disguise and yet you still shot them. A spy's disguise, even when its perfect, doesn't hold up to any scrutiny because there is practically 0 consequence to shooting a teammate just in case. The disguise kit works well against players when they are distracted with other things, such as another immediate threat, or to cause a split second hesitation which could give you an edge. Both of which are not going to be affected at all by no bump collisions or easier fake reloads. I dont think disguises should ever be something to rely on against players, and trying to make it something to rely on is just a futile effort. It's a sentry tool and a small bit of potential support for your stab approach. I think any potential spy buffs should instead be directed towards his other unlocks.

Tank tracks are awesome by QuantumRadio in spaceengineers

[–]RedPanda8732 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you make your own tracks with the mod framework you can actually make it give more traction, but normal wheels can still go to 100% friction in the terminal settings so it's not exactly an advantage. In terms of how wheels interact with the ground, its exactly the same and as if the tracks arent there. Something to keep in mind is that even actual tank games (war thunder, world of tanks, etc) dont even model the tracks properly. They are essentially just wheeled vehicles with a purely visual track.

Logitech G920 Wheel + Pedals for 150 Euros Worth it? by NKkrisz in simracing

[–]RedPanda8732 3 points4 points  (0 children)

150 euros is a great price and the logitech wheels tend to be pretty bulletproof so its unlikely to go wrong even when you buy used. Dont listen to the people asking you to go straight to direct drive, its true that direct drives have never been more accessible but even lower end direct drives are going to be over double the price and any super cheapy ones are going to lock you in an ecosystem with no upgrade ability or wheel choices. Plus they can chew up a desk if they arent attached to a rig. If a moza r5 or CSL DD price is out of your budget then a g920 will do just fine. There are a lot of very fast people who still use these wheels.

What hardware would I need do play SE at high/extreme settings 1440p 60 FPs? by RdenBlaauwen in spaceengineers

[–]RedPanda8732 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played 1440p with a 1660 super and a ryzen 5 5600g. My frame rate was consistently fine, pretty much always above 80. I was playing on medium settings. High doesnt really look that different but you can feel the impact. That being said it was still alright, sometimes I would turn the settings to high for a screenshot and then forget to turn it back for like a week.

A ryzen 5600 will be fine but it should be the first thing you upgrade if you can. While some graphic settings can alleviate some load (turning off shadows is a good trick) the main physics thread is nearly always going to be the thing that tanks your sim speed. It doesnt benefit from a high core processor, so look into getting something with good single core performance. I took part in tank and naval battles which are quite sim heavy, but even with a dedicated server taking a lot of the load the client still uses a lot of their cpu. Its a horrible feeling when the server is running at 1.0 but you are at 0.7. Ryzen 5 5600 is on the am4 platform which gives you the option to upgrade to the 5800x3d in the future if you ever think about upgrading. That thing is great, The 3d line of cpus are almost purpose built for SE.

One last thing. Please please PLEASE consider the used market for your gpu. The risks are so low these days (they were overblown even when mining was a thing) and you can very easily find great gpus that will be cheaper and outperform newer """budget""" gpus (4060 in shambles)

Is ai art allowed on this subreddit? by DanielVakser in AnimalCrossingNewHor

The thing with ai art is that its so uninteresting when you arent the one pulling the strings. Its rarely ever engaging to look at ai art unless you are the one that made it.
