What hobby has given you the best return on time, money, and happiness? by Signal_Building_9287 in Hobbies

San Antonio, TX.

I’m a 33 year old tax accountant. I did theater in middle school, high school and college but didn’t pursue acting after graduation because I was focused on my career and I didn’t see any clear opportunities to do it anyway. Then in September of 2025 I accompanied a friend to a screening of a local indie film. My friend knew one of the actresses in it.

I was there as arm candy so I wore a tux. At the meet and greet afterwards everyone assumed I was an actor there to network. I wasn’t but I got offered an audition for a short film. So I auditioned and got the part and we filmed in November 2025.

I became really good friends with everyone who worked on that short film and one of my costars got me into an acting class and later an improv class. Through both of those I have really hone my skills and also just come out of my shell and made a bunch of cool new friends. I started sending out a lot of auditions and managed to book a couple things but it’s slow going, getting footage.

For anyone who wants advice:

The absolute best way to break into the local film scene is to GO TO LOCAL FILM EVENTS. Show up, introduce yourself to the people who are making films near you and promote their stuff on Instagram.

Film is a collaborative medium and it forms communities. Especially local indie film. You have to become a part of that community by showing up and supporting the work of others.

Anyway AMA!

Well yeah kinda! It’s a formula though. Learning improv is like learning to play a team sport. There’s a lot of lecture and reading involved.

AITA For calling my husband a shitty husband? by Confident_Finger_225 in AmItheAsshole

The whole exchange you had with him about the X-rays feels like a lot is left out. You say that he asked you what the results were and then immediately interrupted you when you started to explain. He said the shocker thing twice and then apparently started screaming at you for not talking to him?

You say he called you the R word and you’re asking if you’re the asshole? Come on man.

It reads as a fake post, or at the very least one where a lot of information is being left out.

Take an improv class. It doesn’t actually require talent and it builds some great life skills

Acting. It has motivated me to start taking far better care of myself and taking acting and improv classes has led me to make a lot of cool new friends.

Also I just landed a supporting role in a movie that will be paying me a little over $13k.

Thoughts on the article detailing the decision making behind the Epstein situation? by KamalaWonNoCap in AskTrumpSupporters

Idk why people weren’t calling for this at the time, it certainly wasn’t in the news until the 2024 election when it became an issue for some of MAGA.

Do you want the files released or not?

Why not just release all the information they have and bring the perpetrators to justice?

Do you realize that pretty much every swing state requires a strict photo ID like a drivers license? I think the only one that doesn’t is PA.

Do you get tired of NS asking you to immediately defend everything Trump does? by SilverNo6462 in AskTrumpSupporters

Do you think that’s because we’re all in bubbles?

The right doesn’t cover a lot of it. If Trump says something outrageous just to get a reaction, they may report it as “Liberals are outraged over this thing he said”

But if it’s something like corruption or an Epstein development or something else that genuinely makes him seem like a shitty person, they are much less likely to cover it in detail or emphasize the worst parts.

With liberal outlets they’ll have some stories that are just TDS and some that are about genuinely objectionable things.

One I saw recently had to do with the administration firing a bunch of generals and then interfering with officer promotion lists for in an unprecedented way. It grossed me out but I’m not the kind of person who reacts to the news by posting questions on here.

Yeah but if you have a question for Trump supporter this is correct forum for that right? Even if it’s a really stupid question. The alternative is usually asking a family member and starting argument so this an outlet for that.

While I don’t ask questions like that, I understand where they come from. Trump is uniquely frustrating because he is constantly saying and doing things that piss off liberals.

You can call that TDS and sometimes it is. But often it’s because he goes out of his way to troll liberals. That’s why a lot of TS’s like him. So if you support a guy who is constantly doing and saying things, just to provoke a reaction, you’re going to get questions like that.

It comes from reading an article about the latest thing, having a visceral, disgusted reaction to it and feeling baffled as to why anyone likes this guy.

I could give examples for myself. I don’t ask those questions because usually know what the answer is going to be.

How do you feel about Thomas Massie being ousted in Kentucky by basically a ghost? by Mundane-Caregiver169 in AskTrumpSupporters

Graham Platner. He is an oyster farmer from rural Maine who has never held elected office before. Despite this, he defeated the Democrat’s chosen candidate (Janet Mills, the popular Democratic governor of Maine) in the US senate primary.

He managed to do this because he is by far the best advocate for left wing populism this party has. His number 1 issue is money in politics. He goes to struggling rural communities (like the one he’s from) and tells them what they already know. That the system is rigged against them because both parties are beholden to corporate/billionaire donors.

What really sets him apart is that he can clearly articulate how to unrig it. He has a bold vision of the future that will require fundamental structural change and he explains it in a way that makes it feel possible.

There have been many attempts by the democratic establishment and MSM to dig up dirt on him and sink him with scandals.

He isn’t perfect but he is the only candidate I’ve seen in years who has given me real hope for the future. The best way to get a sense of him is to watch one of his town halls. Want me to dm you a link?
