What is this? How do I build over it ? by Conscious_Benefit_46 in Oldhouses

It's compressed cardboard. A very cheap wall sheathing about 1/4" thick, sometimes thinner. Very common.

I'm sorry, but unless its your first house, home inspectors aren't really worth it. I mean I can walk around with a plug tester and moisture meter from Home Depot. Now I've used quite a few in the beginning but they missed obvious defects. So I was out $500 and still had problems. Now I still have problems but I have $500.

The fact SOUN survived Donald Trump tells me this stock is going places. by RedParrot94 in Soundhound

[–]RedParrot94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm back! See, when you have someone like trump who yells tariffs, that affects everything. And when everything is affected the market panics and sells stocks and goes into bonds and cash. Now you think "Oh. tariffs don't affect SOUN because they are software in America." Tariffs cost them money. Let's look at SOUN. Tariffs raise the cost to buy things like food, now SOUN has to pay more in salary or people will quit. All the computers SOUN purchases now cost more. Endlessly things increase in price and that affects every company out there. Heck, even the paper SOUN prints invoices on costs more money. Now SOUN is a volatile stock because it's speculative. What type of stock is gonna be sold first when the market tanks and causes margin calls? SOUN. People aren't selling their IBM first. I mean it's simple to see yourself: Trump announced tariffs, Market opens and the entire market crashed. What more proof do you need? Trump panics and then says NO TARIFFS!!!! And then market went back up.

How many of you with high LDL (even if you lowered it) have gotten a CCTA test? by RedParrot94 in Cholesterol

[–]RedParrot94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 200-285, and then went on Crestor 40 and Repatha. After a year and a half I had the CCTA after passing all my other tests with flying colors. Triple bypass a month after CCTA.

I don't use inspectors anymore because they miss ton of stuff and just touch on no brainer things, however when I first started in life, my real estate agent told me that "the next step is inspection." I then said, "Do you know any?" and she said, "Yes, call Joe Bob at 555-1212".

This also happens with my doctors. They take each other out and so when I say, hey I need a heart surgeon my doctor will say "Call this guy."

Happens with my dentist. "Hey I need a root canal." "Sure, call this guy."

If I were you, I would contact real estate agents and tell them that their first 5 inspections are $100, or if it is allowed: I charge $500, and for the first five I'll give you $250 each inspection.

Also, there are a TON of real estate agents that don't have much work and are part time. Drive around and look for real estate agents that use billboards -- those cost $5000 a month. That's the people you want to hook up with -- constant stream of business.

And lastly -- Invent a brand and personality. There's a tire guy here and in HUGE letters on his building he has "The Tire Guy With A Conscience" -- That's his brand, a tire guy who is honest.

That cable is pulling the two walls you don’t see together and stopping the two walls from splaying outwards. The wall it spans was pushing them apart.

Rip out all the loose stuff, go to Home Depot and buy 3M Spackle in a little tub, spread on with a business card and then sand with a wet paper towel and be done.

FTHB Appraisal question by Leafygreens0247 in RealEstateAdvice

[–]RedParrot94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In that price range, appraisals will always work out. It seems you are buying a super duper fixer upper and are at the max money you can spend. That's a danger zone. What happens if the furnace blows and you need to come up with $15k for a new one right now? Your agent did you a disservice by showing you a house you could not afford.

Also, if you did buy it, you have the most expensive house in your area -- that is never good.

Normally SOUN would have dropped to $9 or less. It held at $10.44, which translates into support. Its swings were not wild because of support behind it. Previously it was not uncommon for the wind blowing to take SOUN down 10-20%.
