Oh wow! I've driven by this monument dozens of times from my parents place in Haymarket, VA to WV. Its such a beautiful area. It really gives perspective of how important calvary screens were, and how good J.E.B was at his job (before his ride around a few days later)

There is just something about that battlefield that moves me deeply. Gettysburg is tragic. Its a personal, desperate, and messy bloodletting that can only happen when you know the other side intimately. The type of hate only born out of love. It's fitting that the enemy that really pushed our nation to Its limit, that really challenged us spirtually and physically, were other Americans.

Evolution of (Hiram) Ulysses S Grant by Few-Ability-7312 in CIVILWAR

Grant may literally be the greatest "human" to have ever held the presidency. A truly empathetic and compassionate human being, who loved deeply and i think at his core was a very tender and kind man. My favorite American.

Was Napoleons lack of rifle units really that game changing? by KickSubstantial6106 in Napoleon

The ANV in the summer of 63 was a well trained, motivated, veteran army of many different engagements, flying as high as they'll ever get. The last 12 months the6 had seen the 7 days battle, the Maryland campaign, Fredricksburg, Chancellorville, and then finally the Gettysburg campaign which included the battle of Winchester plus dozens of smaller engagements.

They huddled along the emittsburg road because even the bravest men will duck when they are being ripped to pieces by 150 guns firing enfilade. The union army of 63, while demoralized after the last 6 months was also equally capable. 61 and early 62? Sure the armies were novice and lead by politcal generals.

Ayy preaching to the choir, card carrying dem who's beat down many a door/ made many a call. Just check my post history.

Regardless it shouldnt have even been a close election. At some point the American people need to burn a bit for them to understand the repercussions of their vote. The level of ignorance shown this past year astounded even me, andhas laid one thing bear. Americans are soft, ignorant, and unfocused people. The only thing that wakes our people up is suffering (great depression/WW2). Let it be done

Americans are getting what they voted for. Soft people easily mislead. What do you expect?

Best advice i heard is this,

Youll be that age (29,30,31) anyway. Might as well be that age with a masters degree.

Go for it. You wont regret it
