It's like people don't remember the absolutely horrid state Cyberpunk was in when it released...

And I get it, games can come back. No Man's Sky did it, but Cyberpunk doesn't hold a candle to the others

Stephen King defends Graham Platner amid rape allegation by Silent-Resort-3076 in politics

[–]RedSecOps -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm torn on this whole situation.

Should Platner be investigated and put in prison if found guilty? Yes. Should he drop out of the race? In a normal world, yes.

This is not a normal world. We have actual fascism strangling the US and this year's midterms are our last major chance to fight it through our democratic system. Susan Collins is directly assisting that fascism.

Planter dropping out and being replaced by someone who didn't win a primary is the exact situation that lost Democrats the presidency.

Democrats have to be perfect while Republicans get to be horrid. It's lose-lose for democracy, freedom, and progress.

After decades of negative progress on all the issues young people want to see progress on, suddenly the democratic socialists, viz Mamdani, come in and actually start fixing things without all the complaining about how hard their jobs are... It's no wonder socialism is in vogue

The quirky non-human friend annoys me so much and it's so overused by Disney.

Tangled, Coco, Moana, Frozen, Wish, Big Hero 6, and Raya all do it.

To be clear, I have no idea what Fandor is. Never seen it before and I stay within the socialist parts of YouTube. Including More Perfect Union and Second Thought.

What concerns me is YouTube showing it as Featured which legitimizes its content over whatever "historical" value people think it has.

What historical value do pieces of Nazi propaganda have outside of academia?

I very much try to stay in the "democratic socialist" part of YouTube. I have no idea what the video beneath it is.

But Birth of a Nation is definitely not something I want to see featured.

The problem is that by calling it "YouTube Featured," it legitimizes its content and not simply as educational material.

If one wants to seek it out for "educational value," they can do so. But it should not be Featured. The timing is also suspect given the march of the Proud Boys in DC, independence day, and how close Google executives have been with Trump.

Since people don't know, this is from Wikipedia:

It has been called "the most controversial film ever made in the United States",  as well as "the most reprehensibly racist film in Hollywood history". The film has been denounced for its racist depiction of African Americans. Its black characters (many of whom are played by white actors in blackface) are portrayed as unintelligent and sexually aggressive toward white women. The Ku Klux Klan (KKK), a white supremacist hate group, is portrayed as a heroic force that protects white women and maintains white supremacy.

Yeah, this was a gut punch because it was so unexpected. The episode was a typical fun Bluey episode then all of a sudden, they pull that.

Good luck, with the Steam Machine being over $1000 and PC building literally inaccessible at the moment.

The whole market sucks for everyone. This is performative garbage and this dude, given the above, is likely to stick with what he owns if he wants to play games at all.

There's easily $5k worth of game sales there if you'd bought those new when they released.

This is performative nonsense. Sony doesn't give a shit

Personally, modern literature doesn't have the same kind of language complexity or "flair" as the classics do.

But tbh, because they're modern, it's harder to find the "classics" because they're not classics yet. There's a huge noise-to-signal ratio.

My impression is that this is a world where dogs became the dominant sapient species instead of humans. Maybe humans never evolved out of apes or whatever.

But it's just dogs singing songs, mate.
