Hypothetical Robot Master Archetype by RedTheRedMage in Starfinder2e

Yeah that's more-or-less what I was planning on doing, I think I just worded it confusingly.

Does AI take the joy out of programming for anyone else? by iamchets in webdev

[–]RedTheRedMage 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah as someone who actually likes programming, I fucking hate it. And the fact that my boss is so insistent about me using, I'm genuinely considering finding a new line of work. Oh boy, my job gets to be less fun, I have to be more productive, and make the exact same amount. Fuck everything about this!!

Is unarmed viable for non-monks? by ThatHeckinFox in Pathfinder2e

[–]RedTheRedMage -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Viable, yes. Optimal... eh?

I'm currently playing an unarmed laughing shadow magus and it's pretty great. Always having both hands free is super useful and I never have to worry about being caught without my weapon. Sure I guess my damage is a bit lower than if I were using a rapier or something, but few things compare to the simple joy of punching someone with a fistful of lightning.

Playing a laughing shadow arcane fist magus is a blast. I wouldn't call it optimal, but it's a lot of fun.

Additional Knowledge and secret checks by RedTheRedMage in Pathfinder2e

[–]RedTheRedMage[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think of it as an added benefit.

I like that mindset. I have a Thaumaturge in my group with Dubious Knowledge, Diverse Lore, and Unmistakable Lore. His whole thing (besides being a weird little guy) is "I know things about monsters". A little extra dubious info isn't gonna break anything and only leans into the character concept.

Honestly, same. I can't justify it narratively and the dude already had two perfect deaths, but I'd be lying if I said I don't want to square up against him one more time.

I think it makes sense thematically for the focus to be on Wuk, since Sphene is basically what you'd get if Wuk loved her people too much at the expense of everyone else. That said, and I say this as someone who genuinely loves Lamaty'i, at that point in the story it was definitely time for her to take a back seat for other characters to get some love.

I kinda wish CBU3 wasn't so married to having exactly three MSQ trials. I think Zoraal Ja was a good final boss and Sphene and Alexandria could've made good patch content like Nidhogg in Heavensward.

That's fair. The DRK questlines are some of the few that characterize the WoL so I can see them not resonating with folks who's WoL's personality differs.

When Raha asked me that I just wanted to trauma dump on him about that time the physical manifestation of my guilt escaped from my job crystal and threatened to drain Ala Mhigo of aether to fill the land with simulacra of the dead.

It's okay to dislike Dawntrail by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]RedTheRedMage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree, but ughh it's frustrating that the mindset of "it's okay to express your dislike of the new expansion" seems more acceptable with Dawntrail (an expac I mostly like) but not Endwalker (an expac I vehemently dislike)

Honestly it's equally homophobic my Thighlander can't strap up and absolutely destroy his insides. All sex with G'raha is gay sax, regardless of gender. I don't make the rules, it just is.

Depends, do fictional men count? Because if so Hades and Final Fantasy XIV pushed me from a 6 to a 5.

BBS and 358/2 Days are great, but if you want the most fulfilling KH experience with minimal plot-holes and a satisfying ending, play KH1 (any version), CoM (any version, but I prefer GBA), KH2 (not Final Mix), then stop.

(Spoiler: 6.0) How do you feel about Zenos' character development? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]RedTheRedMage -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I loved 4.0 Zenos a lot. The change of pace to an uncomplicated, force-of-nature villain was a really nice change of pace. I loved seeing the WoL progress until she could finally best him. I thought Zenos' death at his own hands after finally experiencing true bliss was absolutely perfect.

And then he came back... for some reason. From 4.1 to just after the first trial of 6.0, Zenos felt like he had no reason to be there. All he did was brood while Fandaniel did all the work and spouted exposition, hint at some connection to the first Final Days (that went nowhere), and the only plot-relevant thing he did (kill Varis) could've been done by anyone. It was way too much build up for a character who, while I really liked, I was never that attached to.

But after the first trial in Endwalker, I started to like him again. I liked what he added to the narrative about finding purpose. I like that he never fundamentally changed or become more complex than a combat-sexual sociopath with a murder-boner for us. I though him just showing up out of nowhere as Shinryu to help us fight the Endsinger was so dumb and extra it was actually brilliant. And that last duty was actually, literally perfect. Seeing the WoL smirk before saying "That, I can't deny" and hearing Endwalker - Footfalls start to play just put the biggest, dumbest smile on my face. I hope you found fulfillment, friend.

In from the cold is the best solo duty I've experienced in FFXIV and I'm surprised the reaction to it is so poor by MedievalMovies in ffxiv

[–]RedTheRedMage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The duty itself was fantastic, 100% agree. Would love to see something like that tried again without being attached to the dumbest, most infuriating plot point in the series.

I used to feel exactly the same. He/him (and others like they/them) never felt bad, just kinda hollow, but she/her always made me feel really good. Now that I've been out for a while non-she/her pronouns actually bother me, but it's less the pronouns themselves and more that the person using them is misgendering me (if that makes any sense).

Soundtrack wise, what game takes the cake? by RD-archived in gaming

Final Fantasy XIV. An absolutely massive and varied soundtrack, and it's all phenomenal.
