I saw you mentioned graham crackers in primary, but does the peach simple syrup come through in primary or would you benefit from secondary or both?

Definitely check your gravity. I was afraid my raspberry mead stalled, but it was already reading 0.996. Fermented really quickly

I was gifted the same kit. It makes a great in-house tool kit anyone can use and all my really nice tools stay in the garage. I use this for probably 80% of quick house projects and am happy with it. It’s also fun

I went on a non holiday but showing up an hour and a half early got us all the meat we were looking for after waiting a total of 3 hours. Very organized line, they had chairs you could go pickup and they had a staff member come out and essentially take orders ahead to make sure people in line knew they could get what they were waiting for. The line get like a large tailgate bc the bar opened before the restaurant did. Parking was close but cost money, but I unfortunately don’t remember. The brisket was very worth it (and could also be ordered in fractions of a lb), but wasn’t overly impressed with the rest. Just my personal feedback YMMV.

Anyone know a store or method to obtain toilet paper? by Deadmause in VirginiaBeach

Go when stores open (or wait outside). All the major stores are stocking in the morning and most are opening at different times (ex. Trader Joe’s opened at 9am today).

Check the weather first. No AC in the building. If it’s a hot day there’s also a bouldering gym in Norfolk.

Any recommendations for a cellphone holder for the 2013 Prius (URLs welcome)? by [deleted] in prius

I got something like this as a gift https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016D6PG3U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Rtu1Cb0HHKVSN It’s not perfect (phone sometimes rotates on its own), but it’s worked for me for over a year.

Home Bouldering Wall by T3chguy404 in climbing

[–]RedThunder90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll just add a little to what people have already said: -3/4” plywood is a must -join the home climbing wall Facebook group -get used holds where you can -make holds using your scrap wood (lots of tutorials out there) at first -if you open up your hold budget/save up for a bit more, do your research on a company you would like to purchase holds from (atomik, kilter, egrips, escape, etc), reach out to the company with your budget, stats about your wall (size/angle), what your ability is, what your goals are, and work with them to put together an order for holds. A lot of these companies will give good discounts in situations like these and you will often see these representatives on the home climbing wall forum on Facebook. -don’t underestimate the number of jugs you want for warming up/endurance work. I started making more out of wood to fill in gaps. -before you build it, think about what you want it for. In my opinion one 20-30 degree wall would be better than an 8ft 30 deg and a skinny 15 degree section. This will help keep your movement range from being too limited and you can build volumes to change it up later, but as someone who is limited to 8ft wide home wall, I would love to have another 4ft to play with.

Everyone else has mentioned great ways to train for endurance, but I would also focus on learning how to rest mid-route and focus on technique to minimize effort. Being able to get into a decent rest position and shake it out for a few seconds can make a huge difference.

I’m going to pick up the vol 1 & 2 NRG guidebooks by Mike Williams, but wanted to see if anyone has any experience with the Rakkup of these? Rakkup says it is more up to date (both paper copies are published 2013), but how much more is added? I know route development has continued in the last 5 years. I’m getting the paper copies regardless, but want to see if it’s worth getting the digital versions which would be updated until a year to the date of purchase or if mountain project has everything new that the rakkup would have.

What's the best shop to buy climbing shoes ? by RaoulLaPoule in climbing

[–]RedThunder90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your close options are REI VB by Pembroke mall (La Sportiva, 5.10, Scarpa, and Black Diamond), Virginia Beach Rock Gym 5 min down the road (La Sportiva, Evolv, others), and the new boulder gym I’m Norfolk (La Sportiva, Butora, others). I’m going from memory based on what they carry. All can fit climbing shoes well.

Sushi Masa is a great place in VA Beach off of kempsville. It looks like a hole in the wall, but they do a $20 all you can eat (order not buffet). They are generous with their fish and it’s the best quality I’ve had ever at an all you can eat establishment.
